Hi everyone. I'm gonna visit BKK in March 1st ~ 5th. I had to search agoda for a nice, cheap hotel. I decided that to stay at the Marcopolo Hotel @ Sukhumvit. From the reviews, I learned that the hotel as great wifi(for free) and a comfortable enviroment to lodge in. Also, I had to call the hotel to check if the hotel was guest friendly. I confirmed that the hotel allows 1 guest (free of charge) as long as I reserve a double/twin room. But a 2nd guest will be charged of 1000B. Has anyone stayed here before? It'll be nice if I can learn more about the hotel before getting there.

Heard good feedback from my customers. Yes its guest friendly if you book for 2 people. 3 people in a room and then you must pay a 1000 Baht joiner. Tim

Thanks for the reply saucytim. When checking in, do I have to say something like my roommate will check-in later? I'm wondering with they would register only 1 person if i'm the only one to show up when checking in.

Thanks Tim! Now all I have to do is go out and get myself a guest... I'd hate it to stay in a double hotel room by myself for 4 nights

Here is my review on Hotel Marco Polo. Hotel Marco Polo is placed in Soi2 of Sukhumvit Rd. It is a 10 minute walk from the main road to the hotel. The hotel has a free TukTuk service 24hr. from and to the main road. When you want to go to the main road, ask the front desk and you will be served. From the mail road, call the hotel and they will send you the TukTuk. The driver doesn't ask for a tip, but he will be very happy to receive a 20B tip now and then. The hotel is a three-star hotel, and I booked a double for USD35/per night (without breakfast) via Agoda. The hotel has a small lobby. a small desk with 1~2 receptionists awaiting. I think the restaurant is placed on the second floor, but never went there, so I don’t know how the food is. It doesn't have a pool nor a gym, but you can use the JW Marriot's Pool&Gym for 100B. Not a big fan of of swimming pools and gyms so I never visited. The building is fairly clean: neat white hallways and floors. The room is also clean and tidy. The bathroom has a nice tiled floor with bathtub, and of course, a water hose next to the toilet. The room has a nice hard queen (or was it king?) sized bed with a big LCD screen TV, a desk and a couch, and two big closets with drawers and a safety box. Personally, the best part of this hotel is it has a sink, microwave oven, and a water pot and some utensils (house keeping will even wash the dishes for you! WOW!). I had some instant fried rice or cup-o-noodles for breakfast or when I had the munchies after some beers . The hotel will provide you with 2*500ml bottled drinking water daily and 2 servings of coffee or tea for free. I always took a bottle of water on my way out. Free Wifi is great. All you have to do is login in with a simple ID and password. I dunno exactly how fast, but I had no problems surfing the web or downloading the newest series of Big Bang Theory (I’m a big fan of the show). Hotel is guest friendly as long as you reserve a 2-person bedroom. When booking, mention that you will have 2 people and you will have no problem. But if you want 2 or more guests (for more action I guess) then you will have to pay a 1000B surcharge or each person. When I brought a “guest”, the front desk didn’t ask for the lady’s ID or anything…but I can have them keep my guest’s ID if I requested so. The staff members are well trained in English; not perfectly fluent, but I had no problems communicating with them in English. On a night, I had a mosquito in my room, and I went to the front desk to ask for a mosquito repellant. She let me borrow the ones they use, and I was mosquito-bite-free that night…thanks to the nice lady One downside of the hotel was, personally, I think the room-keeping comes in a bit early. Every morning, I would hear someone trying to open the door while I was still sleeping. They start their cleaning around 9AM. I guess I should’ve put on the DND sign on my doorknob. Rather than that, I think the hotel was worth more than what I have paid.
