Does anyone have any comments about either of these hotels. Thinking about staying at one of them?? I am looking for information on accomodations and location. If I remember correctly the Dusit Thani is a ways out of the center of "City".

ABC,

In my opinion, both of these hotel are not good choices! Unless you are traveling with a tour group. Checking in and out at Watergate always takes forever because of all the tour groups. One time I tried to catch my flight back to HK, and there were like 50 tourist in front of me at the check out desk. The stupid hotel people weren't smart enough to separate the tourist and the business travelers.

Dusit is a fairly old hotel. Expensive and the rooms are not that great!

Both of these hotels are not at good location in terms of traffic. Now, I only stay at Landmark Hotel. Great price and very good location. Skytrain right in front and Nana Plaza is just in walking distance.

I usually stay at the Landmark hotel also. But, the catch is that I am flying with a business associate and he's bringin' his wife. And his wife does not know what he has done in BKK. So, since we always stay at the Landmark, we thought it would be risky. Because if any of my friends, tg's saw him, they might be able to find him at the Landmark hotel. And a knock on the door would not be good.. if you know what I meant. But, thanks for the info. I will keep looking for another option for hotels.

ABC,

I understand your problem now.  I had a similar situation once.  I had to bring my wife with me once to Thailand, so I didn't want to stay at the Landmark hotel.  We stayed at the Grand Pacific hotel.  It was nice and good price too.

I picked that hotel because it was next to a shopping center and the area around the hotel was very clean.

Good luck.  I hope you and your friend can still have some fun while in Thailand.

I was wondering why an advanced member such as ABC was asking a newbie type question. After reading the posts it makes sense.
Just my 2 cents.

I guess you can call me a newbie at times!! Ha ha ha ha!! Just wanted to cover all my bases and not sell my friends ass on account of me!! ha ha ha!! This forum is great source for information. Figured some members could give me their feedback!!

We've been to too many hotels and many establishments and not that we are going to be noticed, but, he does not want to take that chance!!

ABC,
As I and others mentioned on another thread, the Dusit has been known to be difficult when you have a TG visit you. But of course we all know that ABC isn't interested in having sex with hot little TGs - so no problem there right?

MrJoe:
I have read those comments on other threads. That is why I was going to suggest to my friend to stay there. This way he would not have to worry about females showing up at his room unannounced.

As for the thai females!! I am not worried about getting a TG into the room for me. Where there is a will there is a way. ha ha ha!!

I am more concerned about my buddy and his wife. If his wife finds out about the other females, it could be a death sentence for him.

Now, you might be asking yourself, why is he taking her?? Good question with no answer. I think the best answer is she wants to go!! And before anyone says that he is whipped. She is a corporate lawyer and he an engineer. Not that makes and difference, but all I am saying is that she is not "stay @ home" wife and does nothing but cook, sleep, and clean. She wants to see the temples and things in Thailand and so she wants to go with him while he is on his business trip. That also does present the problem of excuses incase something does come up!! She is not stupid, again why we are looking for a hotel that might be more difficult for a working female to get into!!

And before someone else brings this up, he understands that just walking around can present problems. Again, it's not like he or myself is a celebrity and has much to worry about. But I want to make sure we don't fall into the "6- P's" trap.

The "6 - P's" trap is:
Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance.

ABC,

I stayed at the Amari Watergate on my first trip in for a few days.  It is pretty good quality wise but location is nothing special but I think you will have big problems bringing a girl back.  I saw it listed on a website (i forget which one) as not being girl-friendly.  And every night they had an attendant stationed in front of the elevator banks who was not there during the day.  A better choice at basically the same location would be the Centre Point.
