What hotel in the $50/60 range has the best swimming pool? Prefer Sukhumvit area.
I've stayed in a ton and the pools usually suck. What's the deal? It's fun nursing your hangover with your TG by the pool... any suggestions??

Not that expensive, but the Ambassador has a nice pool and lounging area..
Also, the Delta Grand Pacific has a really nice pool area, great location as you can pick a girl at Robinsons and then take her to your room

oaktoad,
please elaborate on the above quote. are you referring to 'working girls' walking around robinson's or the actual workers? if it's the latter, what's your approach, if you don't mind?

Picking up girls that work in Robinsons is "work", but can be done.
sales clerks make about B4-6,000 per month. Some of them would like to pick up a few more Baht or just have a farang boyfriend (if only for a few days) ...
You have to window shop around a girl that is cute.. if she approaches try flirting with her, if she responds then ask what time she finishes work or what day off does she have .. once you know that, then ask her if she would like to have a coffee/dinner after she finishes work .. it is classic pick up type stuff
Be careful that you pick a girl that you really want.. the girls talk and once you take out one of them the others are kind of off limits..
If the girl that you approach says "oh, cannot" then go on to another.. if you are a bit persistant then all the girls will know that you are looking .. then things can get a bit more complicated as the ones that might want to go with you will be "shy" as they don't want their friends or work associates knowing that they are interested ... on the other hand, those that are a bit more aggressive might actually approach you.
one thing, do not (DO NOT) mention money when you first meet them. If they go to dinner/coffee with you the subject might be brought up, but no by you ..
If the girl goes to your room and plays then give her money for a taxi when she leaves (B500-1,000) if you really want to see her again. Don't be too obvious about this.. just slip the money into her purse as she leaves.. don't let her see how much.. she will look later for sure anyway ..
be cool, be discrete and you may do very nicely ..
For regular girls it helps to live in Bkk. If you are only there for 10-14 days it gets tougher, but still can be done ..
A few years ago this happened to me.. I was in the food court at Emporium and noted that the girl that served my "guiteo nam" was quite cute and giggly .. I flirted a bit while she prepared my soup and then gave her a small tip (B10) and got a very nice "wai" in return ..
the next day I went back and this time I brought a red rose for her. (fortunately they work damn near every day) and got my soup and flirted a bit more.. then asked her "do you work everyday" .. and she replied "I have Tuesday off" (all of this in pasaThai .. it really helps to speak basic Thai) .. I then told her that she should let me make her lunch .. she giggled and said OK .. we met for lunch on the next Tuesday and ended up spending the evening together too .. I gave her B1,000 (well worth it) and saw her the next Tuesday all day too..
When I went back about four months later she no longer worked there.. probably went to work in a bar after getting B2,000 for two pleasant days ...
Don't count on miracles, but I am not the only one who has been successful .. used to know one old guy who would go after noodle cart girls that hung around his soi .. he got a reputation and was diddling quite a few of them for B200-300 (back in the 25 to the $$ times) ..he was more blunt than I am.. he would just ask the girls in Robinsons and MBK if they wanted a "date" and how much?? I never could quite get up the nerve to be that obvious ..

thanks for the great tip/strategy. i don't know which i crave more, the dept store/food court girls or those delicious noodle & soap bowls  i will definitely give it a try when i'm in bkk this nov.
