One I will voice an opinion on only one thing: I think you can get a MUCH better place than CentrePoint for the amount you mentioned. As to where, as you've learned there's alot of choices; I will leave it to the bros to help you make the final decision.

Kman, I agree with Joe,Centrepoint is a bit stiff for my liking(pardon the pun). You could try the Ratchatavee area, there are many apartments in this area, and it is very close to what Thai people call the centre of Bangkok e.g.Maboonkrong,siam square. If youre in need of a good fitness place, try the Asia hotel in Ratchatavee, for 5 thousand baht you get the use of the swimming pools and fitness suite among other things for 1 year, also you can take freinds or family with you! The first time i moved,we were paying 30,000 a month for what i now realise was a waste of money,we now pay 10,000 and it is much more convieniant, why dont you take an apartment short term and then later get something more to your liking? I hope this is of some help.

Hi Jimmy D I'm not a newbie to BKK but it is likely that business will mean an extended stay, say 6 months, so staying in hotels is no longer on. Prices for appartments seem all over the place. Just what does 10000 or 30000 baht per month get you? Dave

Dave, Stuff like a laundry,a restuarant,a gym, swimming pools, direct phone lines, these would all be in house. This would come under the 30,000 price bracket, but dont forget when these extras go wrong e.g.dirty pool, jeans coming back from the laundry a different colour, bad food etc,9 times out of 10, Thais will not admit to the problem which is a big headache. I live in a studio apt with my wife on petburi soi 5,she does all the cooking,we take our laundry down the soi,and luckily i have a gym on the roof where i work. The only problem is with cheaper apts you will not get a direct line, which is a problem if you want to run a buisiness from home, luckily we dont need this. Will you be here on your own?If so i suppose its better to go for something with all the extras added. But you could go the other way and get yourself a nice little maid for six months!

Thanks Jimmy D yeah I will be coming alone. But I do know a number of girls in BKK so staying alone might be quite a challenge. I live alone now so usually eat out and send out laundry and have a cleaner. I really am pretty lazy when it comes to home life. I guess I will just have to take the plunge and be prepared to move on when I figure just what I really need/want. So I don't need a palace 'cos I probably won't be in it too much, but I do realise that I could not carry on as I do during my regular business trips to BKK i.e bars every night. The phone line issue is a good point you make. I'm thinking about the "maid" suggestion. Thanks Dave
