Anyone stayed at Ruamchitt Plaza recently ?
If so, is it okay or a bit of a flea pit ?
I'm looking for a gf hotel around the 1000bt price range and in the mid Sukhumvit area.
Also, Stable Lodge - any comments on that one ?

I was chatting to a guy the other week and he was having some difficulties with "guests" at Ruamchit. It seems their policy is a little up and down.
Same area and price range are Federal and Manhattan hotels. Both are guest freindly if you book double room.

Stable lodge down soi 8 is OK, but actually probably better, very quiet, although has a pool and not bad sized rooms, is The Promenade, almost opposite and next to a beer garden, where breakfast is OK. If you stay more than a few days, Promenade will give you a room for 800 bt, although ask at first for 900/1000bt, chinese owners say nothing when you bring the girl back, just look ! - Popular, and at the same rate, is Honey Hotel, down soi 18 past robinsons, whilst the City lodge on soi 9, stones throw from Eden is OK. Also Ambassador will cop 7,700 as a weekly rate for the big, tower wing rooms.

Hey brother Stueyb, I stayed at Ruamchitt back in Sept. I wouldn't recommend it. The rooms are pretty well worn and very small, the standard rooms that I had only had a 13" TV and I never did find out if they offered breakfast there. Actually I can't remember there being a restaurant in the hotel period. One word of caution to anyone planning on staying there anyway. Before you decide to turn on the AC make sure you take the filter out and give it a good cleaning because I don't think those filters have been cleaned for some time, if ever and there's no telling what kind of germs could be floating around. The first night I was there myself and my ex spent most of the night with stuffy noses trying to breath and here it is 2 months later and my sinuses still aren't back to 100%. Be careful. Thanx guys, thats Ruamchitt (or is it Roomshit) Plaza out of the question. How about the Ambassador, I heard thats also looking a bit worn now. Its hard to decide where to stay, I might just throw myself in Grand President again as its hassle free and great location, even if its a bit more than I wanted to spend this time (long trip planned so got to make the pennies last).
Oh yeah,the other one, Tai Pan, any one been there recently ?

Stayed at Tai Pan earlier this year.
They often ask about 1600 baht per night although deals are available. One of the bros. reported some guest problems although I did not have any difficulties when I was there.
Good location for soi cowboy but IMO it is no better than Manhattan which can be got for 950 baht per night.
Perhaps you know that Manhattan hotel is just around the corner from Raumchitt

Well, for location that stretch of Sukhumvit seems to be best bet. Maybe I'll go with Manhattan this time.

Sure have Dave, I'm basically tired of thinking about hotels now so will just book Manhattan for a few days and be done with it. One last note though, I tried availability for Grand President for Feb 03 and for my days it was already full ! Let that be a warning to anyone else trying to get a room in Feb.
