Hi Guy's
Wondered if any readers have stayed at the Asia Hotel recently, I have booke a flight which includes 4 day accomodation at the Asia in April next year, got a good deal.
I have stayed at the Asia three times before and was well satisfied with the place but have heard it has gone down hill recently.
Would anyone like to comment.

it is an ok hotel but if u r planning to bring a guest, use the escalator to go to the 2nd floor to take the escalator or go to the 2nd floor from the bts station else the security will stop you at the ground floor and you will need to pay 600 thb to 'register' ur guest.

Its Ok but no more than that: very popular with mid-range tour groups and a little far from the action. The Angel Boutique tailors next door have always done a good job for me.

The only good thing about Asia Hotel is it's location. Siam Square and Panthip Plaza are in walking distance. The next sky train station is very close.
Apart from that, the hotel is not girlfriendly at all. The staff is arrogant. The rooms are old and dark. In sum I would never recommend this hotel to a friend, not even to an enemy.

Not only is it not girlfriendly but the girls are not likely to be impressed at all. It's seen as a bit "low-class" I think.

i hate this place with its 60-70s charme. may be something for somebody who is a fan of the 70's retro style!
For sure a bit worn down these days! as said before not even for the worst enemy to recommend!

asia hotel is for sure not thb 8,000 a night for that money - actually even less - you would get the oriental, grand hyatt, regent or sukhothai hotel! which are top notch in bangkok!

in that category i personally would go for the banyan tree or sukhothai hotel both on sathorn road! the banyan tree has nice suites for about usd 100++ the night and the sukhothai rooms start at about usd 110++ for the standard rooms, although the superior at usd 175++ are a blast as the bathroom alone will be the size of any standard hotel room. love the sukhothai hotel for one of the most nicest laid out places in thailand!
both hotels are guest friendly, but for sure nothing for a penny pincher!

DUMP AVOID. I was forced to stay there one time because of business. It is frequented by lots of Arabs, so I guess that it is safe. I got eaten alive by mosquitos in a suite on one of the upper floors. Lousy TV reception. Then to top it off, when I was checking out, they accused me of stealing a friggin towel or something. However, they made a mistake of doing it in front of my Thai colleague who is a high ranking official and who went ballistic, took their names to turn in to the minister of tourism, his good buddy. The only good think about this hotel is that it is on the BTS line connected to a station. Otherwise in my view is sucks.
