Hey there. I will be in BK at the end of January 02, for the first time. I plan on staying at The Grand President. I read that it was guest friendly. My question- what are the best places to go near the Hotel. If anyone has actually stayed in the hotel I would like to hear your comments on it. Thanks.

Many places to visit from there. Down the road, Onze Club and QBar. Once you walk out to the main road, you have a choice of Soi Cowboy and Clinton Plaza on your left and Nana Plaza on your right. If you get across Sukhumvit main road, you could get to Ministry of Sound (Soi 12) or Rivas at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit. Once you hop on a taxi you could get to practically many other places.

I know that this post is too late to provide any help to you (hope you had a great time at the GP), but it might be helpful to anyone else planning to stay at Grand President.
Since '98 I holiday in BKK twice a year for 30+ days each time and have always stayed at GP. This is a great hotel for engaging in "the hobby". Never paid a joiner fee even though my first several trips, I booked as a single. I now book as a "double", just in case; why anyone would want a "twin" is beyond me....two beds??? I want to sleep next to my "bride du jour" in a huge queen sized bed.
They have never requested the girl's ID, although if you are security conscience, take the girl to the desk and they will hold her ID.
I stay in one of their suites (50+ sq m) for about $35USD per night based on their monthly rate. I do get a corporate rate and other $$ considerations since I am "a regular", but you should be able to obtain similar pricing.
One bit of advise. DO NOT use their internet reservation system....will cost you a lot more $$$....$75 internet vs $35 email. Email them (gpesa@ksc15.th.com), give them the dates for your stay and ask for a quote. You should get a much better deal.
This hotel is in a good location, close to Nana BTS station, walking distance to Nana, Clinton(now not worth the trip) amd Thermae, a 35Bht taxi trip to Cowboy (I'm to lazy to walk it although I have several times) and 40Bht taxi to the Art Bars. I reccommend this place.

I don't seem to find Grand President on the hotel list. Am I wrong or is there a reason. It seems to be a good deal on long term rates. Any comparison to Landmark?

Actually, they are considered serviced apartments. So, you don't find them listed under the hotels section.
