Hi Guys!
Any experiences with The Grand Hotel is it a girl friendly hotel, do they offer massage in the room, is the hotel located close to fun entertainment?

The Grand Hotel is a very nice hotel and it is located on Ratchada quite close to the famous MP's like Mirage, Emmanuelle, Poseidon, etc. However it is quite far from NEP and the bar scene in Sukumvit. Don't think it's too girl friendly though. I've stayed at the Emerald hotel before and it's a very nice hotel as well, but again the guest fee was 600baht...Not a good thing.

I stayed at the Merchant Court hotel and it was great. Nice hotel, girls no hassle (that I know of). I only did it once because it was a short trip. Booked hotel via a company in Thailand and it was 1800 Baht a night.
Right across the hotel are all kinds of entertainments. HOwever, I only went to the Nataree Thai traditional massage. If you want, you can get girls out of there. Best thing to do is get there on last shift (10 PM). After 2 hours massage, it's quiting time, no bar fine fee. Take them back to hotel. Massage is really great and only 240 Baht for 2 hours ($6).
Next to it is Nataree Shower traditional massage. I believe they provide FS there with extra of course. $400 Baht per hour. I'll try it next time I am there.
Behind those 2 places are the Nataree and Emanuel MPs. Big Bucks but nice girls.
Highly recommended.

I stayed at the Grand Hotel before..everything good. Low price and had no questions asked when I brought in two girls with me. Only far from NEP, etc.

Many of the ratchada road [Ratchadapisek] Hotels are offering big discounts now - as they have had a huge drop in occupancy lately, as a large percentage of these hotels clientele is from Asia, especially Taiwan - certainly handy to the good MPs, but yes, if you are into a bit more action/nightlife, check out something in Sukhumvit, say between sois 1-33 - or at least handy to a BTS [Skytrain ] station. Again, I know not the way many Guys like to do things, but it is quiet at the moment, and I suggest you book 1 night only, then the next day have a good look around, - and either move, or extend if you are happy. By and large you get a much better rate by walking in and bargaining - and very rarely will the hotel [ wherever it is in Thailand at the moment] be fully booked.

Since the last post in this thread was well over a year ago, I thought I'd raise the issue again and see if anything has changed. Anyone w/ recent experience at the Grand and the extent of their guest-friendliness? I'm staying there for a few days later this month and would like to avoid any difficulties, if possible.

According to their reservations dept, The Grand have joiner fees even if u book a double. Most of the time though up to the security and front office staff's discretion whether or not to enforce it.
Emerald is charging joiners as well. The Palazzo is the only guest friendly hotel on Ratchada!
