Yes, Rembrandt charges a 1000 baht fee. I ran up quite a bill last time I stayed there and won't do it again! Too bad because the hotel is ok otherwise...

For clarity, a B 1000 joiner fee is not "girl friendly", it's extortion. Could be worse, I suppose, but not by too much.

Hi Guys, first posting, I agree with the post about the Rembrandt Hotel not being visitor friendly however if you are looking for that standard then try the Rembrandt Serviced Apartments, connected to the hotel and on the Soi 22 side. There is no problem taking visitors in there, cost is about 2100 Baht per night for a 1 bedroom suite. I have been going there for about 4 years and would recommend it. If anyone is interested I’ll dig out the contact details. On a general note the forum is excellent, I know LOS well and generally you guys are on the ball and provide a good laugh as well as good info, cheers.

FYI, Rob, there is another post in here somewhere with a quote on a much lower rate for those same suites, maybe about 1000-1200. May be worth your while to dig through and find out how to save some serious money. That's at least an extra ST a day (one way to calculate savings ).

seubeu, thanks for the information, when I first stayed at Rembrandt it was corporate rate and I was there for 3 months, cost was about 1200 baht per night, however staying for less time than that (1 or 2 weeks) and the price has went from about 1800 (3 years ago) to about 2100 earlier this year, maybe they are just ripping me off but I still like the place and the staff. The Indian manager (Raakesh) is excellent and nothing is too much trouble for him. Anyways I like a place where I am known, bit of a home from home.

Went to the Indian restaurant with some brothers on the last trip. It definitely rocked. Best part was the thunderstorm going on outside, got to see bolts of lightning coming down to the BKK rooftops. The food was great and the atmosphere was top notch. I'd expect the rooms to be very nice, but don't really know. Also, IMO the Mexican restaurant lower down is okay but not spectacular or particularly authentic. Still, it can be a nice, mildly expensive change of pace.
