After reading MANY posts about hotels I decided to go with Tai-Pan and got confirmation today with the following rates.
Twin room @ Baht 1,110 x 4 nights = 4,440 net
Taxes and breakfast included.
Thanks to all who take time to post on this forum, it makes travel and arrangements ALOT easier for us non-residents.
See you Jan 27 in CM2

And was that for a room with a large double bed? (Previously I've only been able to get a cheap rate- though not as cheap as yours- for a room with twin beds).

checked out the Thai-Pan hotel site. shows a pic of what looks like a superior room. when I go to book the room only shows standard or twin. anybody have info as to whether they have superior or not? also are they guest friendly?

Not stayed there for a few months but they were guest friendly then. Sometimes they checked girls ID, sometimes not.
You have got a good rate. have you booked double?
I recall a recent post which did suggest they were not very guest friendly. Not sure when and by whom. I suggest you do a search

I've had no problems there with lady guests, and I found it quite a friendly place. But they seem to have an excess of twin-bedded rooms that they sell off cheaply.
That means you have to shell out quite a bit extra for a deluxe room if you want one large double bed.

Did you find the beds to be accommodating enough for yourself and the girls/ I know some "twin" rooms that I looked (not in Tai-pan) had dorm room style beds in them.

Nope - strictly singles. You have to move some furniture around (bedside cabinets etc.) to put two beds together, but it really doesn't work at all well, especially when the action gets "vigorous!"
