Yeah, totally friendly. I stayed in the Court Wing until end of December. It's on a small Soi perpendicular to Soi 15. One security guard during the day and 2 at night a the Court Wing. They won't bother you or your dates (they'll only salute and open the door for you), but you might catch them snickering behind your back if you bring lots of dates (I guess they have lots of time on their hands so they add up the scores Excellent food and room service (very reasonably priced), friendly staff and quiet place. You won't get a view though, the Court Wing windows faces a wall a few feet away. I didn't care but of course your mileage may vary. Joe

The RP's getting great reviews on Trip Advisor lately. They must've 'rerubbished' the joint. It was looking tired when I stayed there 4 or 5 years ago. wj

Just spent 6 nights at Royal President on Soi 15 on their 3 nights for price of 2 offer. Won't be going here again. Was at first given a room that was of a lower standard than the one I booked - there was no kitchen area. When I complained about this they moved us into the type of room I booked. A bit of an oversight. Dark dingy room. Backed onto a multi story car park with an underground nightclub judging by the sound of music that started at about 11:30 every night until about 7 in the morning. When we complained we were told its probably people working in the building next door. Swimming pool small and surrounded on 4 sides by the hotel - no sunlight at any time of day it seems. In room phone was broken and had to be changed. The key card entry was faulty - the electric power kept cutting off and needed to re-insert the key in the slot. Hotel provided a torch when complained. Hotel drains were fumigated while we were there. There was a note of apology for the inconvenience posted in the lifts before the work took place. After the fumigation we found a large centipede walking accross the floor of our 2nd floor room. Driven out of the drains? Breakfast was included in the price but was nothing special. The complimentary shuttle service to Sukhumvit was a good feature. Room maid was young, pretty and pleasant - did good work (lord knows she had to work hard to get that place clean) and so I tipped her well. But too many negatives for me to go back.

Pro: * Very Cheap * Attentive Security guards * Daily room cleaning / nice cleaning ladies * Good location Con: * The lift was out of service for a day * poorly maintained gym equipments (do not do bench press if you want to live) * Old, stained walls, rails, dirty carpets, etc * AC works at times * Terrible views * No sidewalks * Unreliable internet service Will I stay here again? Probably not, I was looking for a place with a decent gym that will not kill me while working out. Royal President is not it.
