The hotel is nice, food is good, staff is friendly and helpful, but the minute I registered they told me I have to pay 600B for any ladies I bring home, kind of sucks because I like the place, the massage across the road is very good too. I might have to move in the next few days unless I can get around the 600B joiner fee, i did register for 2 people too.

I have to agree with you, guest unfriendly unless you book a double. I told them I had registered as a double, they insisted I had prepaid for a single. Luckily, I printed out my reservation off the internet to convince them I had a double. After that, they ask me where was my roommate, and I just made up a name, nok, will be arriving later this evening. They were making kind of tough for me to check in as a double, I think the 600 baht is enough incentive to give me a hard time!

Had experience with the Tai-Pan Hotel putting cute PR girls out of Sukhumvit to bring guys in for a salespitch on timeshare options... promise free hotel vouchers just to visit and listen for 1 hour. Of course the cute girl vanishes as soon as they get you in the grip of the salesman.
After listening to it all, they got very unhappy when I had excellent reasons why their package was not right for me... they gave me the vouchers (which are good worldwide but you have to give them a credit card # to pay for small handling fee via the timeshare head office in Europe) but I did not trust them enough to ever want to use them!
Would not bother with this hotel as they seem very happy cheating people.

I gotta step up here, fast!!!! Ccvvbb It's a ruse!! He's bluffing!! He did the same thing to me (and I hate to be rude but it's one PUNK kid with a smirky little snicker on his face when he says it) when I checked in at 0200hrs.
The punk ass little twit was just revelling in his totally off base power trip when he checked me in. I clarifyed my double booking and told him during my Oct. stay nothing of the sort happened and it won't to you. I'll bet you money the prick who told you this is a slight framed short, almost anglo features Thai with kinda curly hair. I'll bet also that if you take a close look at the staff you'll notice 'him' most days in his Bellman uniform at his post at the front door (being a meek and harmless twit) and on other days you'll notice him wearing a stewards uniform serving duty in the restaurant. So one bad apple apparently spoils the bunch.
It was early am and I argued for all of 3 minutes before I decided to sleep on it and wiat to call their bluff. If they had tried it I would have checked out the next day. Lo and behold it was NEVER an issue again. I called out for ladies, had massage therapist up to the room. Left the nights freelancers to loiter while I toured the town during the day, hell, I even had my initial return visit BG steady waiting for me outside of the room the night we had our parting huff and no one bothered any of them either.
Bottom line is this: it's bullshit! Not once after the initial threat did ANYONE in the hotel even try to ask for it again. As a matter of fact, with 6 nights spent there in Oct., 6 between 22 Dec. and 28 Dec. and again from 4 Jan. thru 10 Jan. they only confirmed my double booking on a few occasions (that I was aware of) and NEVER asked for a ladies ID card. Ever!
So relax, enjoy, and sneer a bit at the punk ass bellman. I was wondering if a talk with Management about this yahoo would be in order but ended up leaving it behind.

THN- I met one of the RCI guys who was kinda aggressive in my first visit. Tried to pitch me too. He's shipped out to Phuket since then, apparently the owner wants to be an intown 'resort' experience as well as a hotel but isn't going about it right.
Still, for the price, for what it is, location, food it's a damn good property.

Speaking of location check this out. About 5 meters to right of the Tai-Pan entrance is a lateral soi that forms a 3-way intersection with soi 23 it is a very valuable shortcut to get to the Ratchadapisek Soapy MPs.
From this soi you'll pass the Pegasus/Narcissus MP only a few100 meters down the street and further still you'll find the shortest route to Tony's a club favored by some of the Soi Cowboy girls on their nights off. There also appears to be many good neighborhood eating establishments along the route too.
Traffic is very backed up on this soi during certain hours of the day so if you wanna make good time grab a motorcycle taxi they'll make especially quick time of it and have you soaking in a flash. ;)
One odd thing, on several occasions, after I had discovered this shortcut, I had caught a taxi up nearer to Cowboy and was asking them to take me to Racahada Pisek well, the taxis went straight and skipped the better route  and once I made them aware they were going the wrong way they turned around and got on it. Once they're clued in you know the navigation routes they're less likely to milk you. A little backseat navigating goes a long way.

I actually have learned about the navagation thing too, I always make sure the cab I get on soi cowboy is going the right direction or I make him turn around first.

I got smart before I went to the Bamboo bar to meet some of the members and kept the key to the room with me, when I came back from the Bamboo bar I met a BG on the street and invited her back to my room for some sanook, I decided to walk right past the front desk staff and not even look at them. We did this and managed to get to the room, where we are now, without any problems.
Had a few drinks from the BOTTLE, tonight with a few of the members and had a great time, besides getting my ass kicked in a game of pool by a BG.
I still will not stay here again and was it was suggested to me to try the majestic suites, which I will next trip. CV
