Hi All,
Does anyone have any information on rooms available at the airport before clearing imigration and customs. A friend is in transit from 10.00am for about 5/6 hours.

Short time rooms in the airport? That wouldn't be good for Thailand's image! Although when one can get a hj in the Barber shop there one has to wonder! ;)
Seriously though, I'm not aware of rooms for use, as there are in other airports on a first come first serve basis, but I would think it possible to go through customs quickly and still have about a good three to four hours outside of the airport.
Anyone else know of a better idea? I'm usually in too big of a hurry and get in too late at night to look around and see what is available that much.

They rent room at the airpot for 4 hours and 8 hours but only for sleeping purpose. Unless your friend can talk one of the girl into go with him is totally different story.

There are "day use" rooms (which are available anytime) in the transit lounge in the BKK airport. I used one once when I was just transiting. At that time, about 7 years ago, I seem to recall $100 for 8 hour use, cash only. Rather pricey, but private and comfortable. Provide your own companion.
I hear the Amari Airport Hotel across the highway from the airport also has day use rooms. But then you have to go through the customs/immigration proceedure and pay airport departure tax too.

Thanks guys.
My suggestion to him is to get into a cab and go to Baron's. The visa, taxi to-and-fro, a room, the girl and the airport tax would cost him less than $100. If he has the time he can extend the room by another hour and even get a nap if he is so inclined

I used the Louis Dreyfus day rooms at the airport within the secure area once. I found my room to be small, dark and not very pleasant. Greatly prefer going through Immigation and walking over to the Amari Airport Hotel and getting a room there if I am in transit and have a few hours to kill. If you want to pay the price, you can get a girl from the Amari After Flight Massage Center brought to your room and get laid while you wait for your next flight.

IMHO the best bet if you would like to rest alone is the Amari Airport Hotel. They advertise short time stays of 4-hr each for US $30 I think....specially for passengers in transit. The hotel is not girl friendly according to a couple of reports. However, you can take a pricey massage in the massage centre with a bang included.
Another good bet is to check inmigration, take a cab and head to any MP for a 2-hr session. You can get a soapy/oil massage, a f_ck and a shower all for about US $50. By the time you take a cab back to the airport you will feel fresh and wasted....ready for the next leg of your trip....did it once. Have a good one mate.
