Does anybody know of any fast internet services near Dynasty Inn or Grand Hotel. Any information on location, price/rate, speed, etc.. will be greatly appreciated

just opposite dynasty, a bit pricy, though. 50 baht for 15 minutes. cheaper at ambassador plaza, 0.75 per minute.

I believe that it is 1 baht per minute at Ambassador Plaza. I used them a lot recently and they are a hell of a lot cheaper than 50 baht for 15 minutes as you say.

Breathless - I think you may have misread RTB's post. He was saying that there is a place right across from Dynasty that is expensive, but close. And, that the price he got at Ambassador Plaza was much cheaper.
The question I have is what kinds of bitrates were you getting in the various places? I don't know what Cane needs a connection for but it sounds like it is not just for e-mail or surfing.
Are they Modem speed : 33.3 Kbps, Single ISDN : 56 - 64 Kbps, Dual ISDN : 128 Kbps or broadband : > 1Mbps?
I know a lot of guys who freelance as coders or web admins that need a fair amount of bandwidth. Price is one thing but bitrate is sometimes more important.
I found out that the hotel I'll be staying at next week, although in Pattaya, has broadband available in a number of their available rooms. Hopefully more hotels will follow suit as ADSL becomes more and more available although I am surprised that more Bangkok hotels don't have it.

Beware the hotel ADSL scam!
For example, the Grand President has ADSL: price was 600 baht/week last year, now 2100 baht/week. Catch: they have ADSL, but it's ONE ADSL line for the whole property! Most times, my dialup was faster!

Ouch! Thanks for the heads up on that!!!
I usually use a network monitor, that I can provide links to if anyone is interested, that shows actual bitrates but I never thought about hotels claiming BB, but it being divided between all the rooms.
But then again, this is the first time that I've had anything besides modem available in a hotel in LOS, if I've even had that.

You are right! BoomARang. I need it mainly to fast surf, while I am there, to get more instant information of the city, and access forums etc., for additional information. How about internet access in the hotels itself (not in the room, as I won't be taking my Laptop) but in their Office area or close by. Any service like kinkos available with internet services.
