Stayed at the Majestic Suites and the Ambassador on my last trip to BKK. I recommend both with a few positives and negatives.
Majestic is close to the action but the action appears to be everywhere. If I stay there again i'll ask for a room on the backside away from the street. The noise from Sukhumvit kept me awake while trying to sleep during the day. It seems to echo like your inside a Canyon. It is clean, which is more than can be said for Nana Hotel. Definitely guest friendly, I think they'll stamp looser on your forehead if you come back alone after midnight.
Ambassador was guest friendly, they checked the girls ID's and checked my info before getting on the elevator. Which I like because that gives me some sense of security. I moved there because I knew it would be quiet during the day. I was right except for some construction, I complained and the guys quit work. Probably just moved to another floor. It is about $45 but its clean and quiet. The bathroom fixtures are outdated and for that reason i'll stay somewhere else next time. The girls need that hose by the toilet that squirts water up their twat.
I'm amazed at the Nana Hotel, if there is a bigger whore house hotel on planet Earth please LMK. Girls just hang out in the lobby, Disco, street etc. looking for customers . The place is always booked on the weekends. My friend tried to book it and had problems getting a room on Sat night.
Can anyone tell me what the Hotels down the street from Foodland are like ?

$45 at the Ambassador? That's 2000 baht, you must be mad. I don't care for the Ambassador, too much smell of curry from Indian group tourists cooking in the rooms. The hallways reek.
Nana Hotel is less than half that price and I have never had a problem getting a clean room there in 15 years. When I could get a room at all, that is.
