Hopefully, posted on-topic this time. I apologize if I posted in the wrong forum. That might be reason my original post got no responses. Been lurking for a while, but didn't see much regarding the Pan-pacific. I have already committed to this hotel for the duration of my stay (got a deal through a connection), however, there seems to be some conflicting information as to whether it's a 5 star or 4 star, or whether it's TG friendly. Not that I would change my reservation, but it might change my plans. Anyone stayed there and can provide a first-hand field-report? I'll also be there in late May. I know this is at the end of the hot season and the beginning of the rainy season, but I've been getting conflicting weather reports. From those who live there, what can I expect in the last week of May? Ý I've already mentally mapped out plans involving Lolita's, Star of Light, and one of the big soapy joints as I have limited time and can't afford to screw it up. As my time approaches, I may ask the more experienced member of the Forum to help me with fool-proof activities. I will only have a couple of free hours per day! TIA

This thread may offer a couple of answers. http://bkkx.com/cgi-bin/forum/topic.cgi?forum=7&topic=137 Some sites lists Pan Pacific as a 5 star hotel. Forget what you have read about the weather. It has been really screwy lately. It wasn't supposed to rain in December, but it did. Just be prepared for anything...definitely hot. Snow, I wished. Use the BTS, from Sala Daeng station to Asoke (for Lolitas). Star of Light is in Patpong 2, just 5 minutes walk from Pan Pacific. As for Soapies, you can get to J-One via BTS, get off at Phaya Thai station.

I just put a group at the PanPac earlier this month... none of the guys had guest problems as long as they paid the supplement for a double room (which I think was 700 baht but don't quote me). The guests are required to leave ID at the desk... although this seems to be sporadically enforced. I would call the place a 5-star... has all the same infrastructure as the Marriott, etc. And you can sample most types of Bangkok nightlife within walking distance. File

I am very familiar with this place. This can be considered as the Japanese headquarters in that area since most of the customers are Japanese business-type men. This place is absolutely girl friendly. Take the lift on the groundfloor and go to Floor 23, where the reception desk is. One security guy will be lurking around 24-hr in front of the lifts connecting Floor 23 with the upper floors where the rooms are. Don't worry. Just see his hands and you will ralize how manhy ID cards he has at that time. Most of the Japanese guys are crazy about Thaniya girls and they take them EVERY f_ckING DAY to their rooms. I asked their policy and they said that as long as you pay for double acommodation you won't be harassed by any one. Sunday during lunch time is a good time to try the swimming pool. So many Japanese guys are hanging around with their Thai chicks (last night meal) and the crowd is particularly interesting. Love to see those small Thai butts....
