Grand President is all right. Facilities are OK, the design in all the towers are quite different.
I have also visited a friend in one of the rooms, it looks very decent. That particular unit had a living room and a small bar.

I stayed at the Grand President (not bad, but you get what you pay for) and now are at JW Marriot. I really like the JW and it is a ritzy place and worth every penny so far. Thanks for all the helpful information provided on this board. BKK is where it's at, people are usually friendly, and food is cheap and good.

I have stayed there four times. First two OK. Last two had problems with bugs. Little buggers that bite nasty. Not planning to go there again. Used to stay at Windsor suites but they were at the time not guest friendly. Based on other posts in the last few days looks like that has changed.

try the Royal President. stay in the court wing. awesome place. new facilities. has everything an apartment should have. stay in the suites. excellent service, but i heard the room service food is not good. but i always ate out, or brought something back from the emporium. guards become extra helpful when tipped. no id checks since it is away from the reception - so no hassles, and funny looks.

Stayed a few days at Grand President 3 weeks ago.
We had two rooms at the building across the reception/street, basic but clean, my room was a suite really with bedroom, livingroom the bathsrooms and kitchen for 1650/night.
No hazzels with girls only ID check.
One thing that was GREAT was the roofpool at 9:th floor we had a few afterpartys until late - really nice and the girls loved it (we had 5-6 girls there one night).
The japanese tuorists we meet in the elevator when we was done was a bit chocked 505 - there we where, 2 guys with all the girls, some topless and a few bottles of booze with water dripping from the pool - At 7AM - PARTY!!

Just to let anyone know who was price shopping, I did check out of the Grand President, and no funny business or such. 7500 baht per week, total/complete.
Good service, and other than an older room and moderately noisy (corner room), it was fine. You do want to be careful with your room card. My digital
camera seemed to demagnetize it, and one day it would work no problem, the next only intermittently.
I am thinking of checking out the Bright City Towers when I get back from Pattaya, if nothing else for a bit of comparison. Seems about 30% less. And it's only three buildings away. I wanted to see a room the other day,
but they were totally full.
One thing that drives me crazy (other than Taxi drives and Tuk-Tuks), is that every vendor takes up all the damn sidewalk space! You either have to walk in the street (Soi 11), so wind you way through food carts and stuff.

Yes the street vendors are annoying and you have to watch where you are going. A short cut through the car park at the back of the Park Hotel will bring you out on Soi 7 avoiding most of this hassle. It is only a very short stroll to Suk from there and you have the escalator up to the ticket area in Nana BTS. The beergarden is across the road from the Park Hotel on Soi 7.
