Always went to Patpong area and got so involved there, that I never made it to other parts of the city 
Use to stay at TAWANA RAMADA (sorry can not give price, as I get a reduction for business reasons).
I find it perfect:
- very close to Patpong sois
- good food in restaurant with live band weekends
- wholly visitor friendly - no problems whatsoever
- never a word of complaint even when they had to clear up a mess after a party of 6 or so in the room
- nice pool with bar
- limousine service for the trip to Pattaya and the like, great drivers to take you and your lady around
= well, perfect!
Been there last in 1998 though. Is it still as good ?

Stayed regularly in Montien at Patpong from 93 - 99. No problems with getting girls in, the italian restaurant is excellent, there is a very good THai restaurant just arround the corner w/ outdoor, MacDonalds accross the street for late night snack, fitness centre, only the swimming pool area at the back is a bit limited. Overall good, but moved over to Sukumvit area when I started to go on holiday, as Patpong changed for the worse in my view.

I stayed at Montien one time in 2001 and they wanted 1000 baht joiner fee and I told them to pack sand. Hotel room was not that great either.

I stayed at Tawana Ramada once, about 3 years ago. Very friendly place. They send me a christmas card in the UK every year!

I stayed at Tawana Ramada for a week in May. I thought the Sofitel Silom nearby was more confortable for about the same price. I don't mind going downstairs and paying 20 baht for a morning copy of the Bangkok Post.
I brought a girl in each day at Tawana Ramada. They DID hassle me on Saturday night. Security at the elevator wanted to charge a guest fee. I protested that I had booked the room for two people, and they let the girl register there and didn't charge me. I wasn't stopped the other nights.

Price - 1200B/night - additional 200B deposit
No Joiner Fee (remember seeing 2 Japanese men bring 8 girls
to their rooms - 4 each) (I personally brought girls back to room almost every night myself with no hassles whatsoever)
Location was 30 second walk to Patpong 1. The hotel staff was very friendly and always smiling. Massage center on 2nd floor (although massagers were not good looking). Restaurant was open 24 hours with very cute waitresses. Strongly recommend if looking for convenient clean (very clean) place near Patpong/Silom area.
