Hi Folks,
I’m having a second thought about my hotel stay in BKK – I’ve booked a standard room at Nana Hotel, via Hotel Travel.com but after reading a few threads in here and listening to some BT member’s advice, I’m toying with the idea to change hotel. I’ve provisionally short-listed the following hotels, ranked in preferential order:
1.Zenith Hotel
2.Royal Benja Hotel
3.City Lodge Hotel.
My requirements are simple; I’m after a girl friendly hotel (essential), it must be located in the upper side of Sukhumvit Road area (from Soi 1 to Soi 19 the furthest down) and priced around $30/$45 per night mark.
Last year I stayed at the Ambassador Hotel, which I liked very much, but due to their un-friendly girl policy I’m booking elsewhere.
I’d appreciate a few comments on my short-listed hotel versus Nana.

Depends what you're looking for in terms of the quality of the hotel itself. If you were thinking about Nana, which is around B1000, then why not think about places like the Federal on Soi 11. Friendly service, girl friendly, nice but small pool, and decent, clean but basic rooms. It's about B950 I think. Gets lots of repeat customers. Stable Lodge on Soi 8 is OK, also Royal Asia but this one is not to everyone's taste location wise and facility/room wise. Check out the many threads on this sort of topic.

I guess I'm looking for an Ambassador type hotel (if not better) that gives NO hassle whatsover when bringing a TG back in your room. I quite like the look of Zenith Hotel, I'm keen to hear people experience on the place.

On my recent trip to BKK I stayed at Royal Benja amongst others
Benja had decent facilities - a pool and gym and a good choice at breakfast. As it is large hotel, you are also fairly anonymous, something you are not at the <50 room places.
Benja was girl friendly, although the TG I took back there reckoned they might charge for her - she had experienced that some six months before. I had no problems on the night, and I saw a number of other girls in tow with there guys also having no apparent problems.

Sarge I'm gonna be staying at Manhattan (Soi 15) for my first stay. Previous posts about this place appears to be pretty good in terms of guests! Also, I have booked for 870pn for a double.
I'm not sure what the more experienced guys think....

I had a big room on the 12 floor. Double bed and a single, then separate living space with couch and table. Decor was ok, but the room was clean and the maid cute - walking around in bare feet and a big, big smile on her face the whole time.
Paid 1900Bt/night
ADDENDUM
Another point about the Benja. When my lady left after S/T, security called up to my room to let me know she was leaving, and was I OK with this.

I've stayed at the Majestic Suites many times. In room safe, guest friendly, great location around the corner from Nana hotel on Sukimvit. I paid 1150 including breakfast.
