Fritz, I stayed in the Prince Palace for 4 nights in February, but can't really answer if it's girl-friendly or not, although I'm sure it is. The reception area of the hotel is on the 12th floor, and you can go straight from ground floor to your room totally avoiding the reception area, only a security guy and bell-boy at the ground floor entrance. The Prince Palace is certainly FANTASTIC value for money. In high-season (February) we only paid 1000 baht per night for our room (incl breakfast). The rooms are spacious and well decorated, and the rest of the hotel is very tasteful too. Although the bar area of the hotel is dead.... never saw anyone at all in the bar. This is a great hotel for people who suffer from jet-lag on arrival in BKK as the BoPae garment market in the streets around the hotel is in full swing by 5am, and finished by 10am. Bo Bae Tower itsself is directly under the hotel and is a kind of 7 floor market place for the wholesale clothing trade, though you can buy single items and it's still dirt cheap! The only draw back I felt was the time it took in a taxi to get to the centre of town. Outside rush hours it was ok, 40 baht & 10 mins or so... in the rush hour as much as 100 baht and 40 mins. So if you do stay there... make sure you take the canal boat taxi which stops right in front of the hotel and only costs 5 baht per person and you can be dropped off just round the corner from MBK/Siam Sq (or a few stops further and you're in the Prutanam area).
