an a train at the touristdesk. Can somebody please confirm that Novotel Lotus is still offering this service.

The tourist desk is likely to still be there. It isn't always manned but there was always staff help available and I'm sure they could direct you to other resources if you couldn't wait. Regardless, I would be very surprised if the hotel's tourist desk status has changed in the past couple of months.
I booked a flight to Koh Samui and a roundtrip train ticket to Chiang Mai. The desk was helpful in showing me the different options available, time tables, etc. Booked and paid for everything at the same time and had the tickets in my hands the next day.
