I can't tell you how many website I've looked at! I think I want to stay at the http://www.penthousehotel.com but I really don't like the way they do their reservations. It's kind of a funky system.
Should I trust these places to 1. get my reservation right and 2. be secure with my credit card info?
I'm just a bit leary since these are really small time hotel operators. Any info on the penthouse hotel?
Any suggestions for other places that might be a bit more secure but still in the south beach area?

Whats the problem?
Penthouse is OK but the cheaper rooms are internal (no window). Don't worry about security on your card.
Have a look at my last post on gogo bars/ bars for other convenient hotels

so far, the best online hotel reservation website was asiatravel.com. Have booked hotel rooms in many Asian countries when i was travelling and never got any single issue. Very happy with the service.

The Penthouse hotel is a well established place and has been dealing with farang tourists exclusively for some time,you should not have any problems there.
Rooms are fine and dont worry about not having a window on the inner rooms as you wont be there to enjoy that view.
Rooms are decorated and furnished for one purpose,including some sort of bolster for the girl or whatever your choice to bend over on.
C cards again no problem,so many farang stay there they cannot afford to rip you off and expect to get away with it.
Book with confidence.
If you are still undecided,come back to me as my wifes daughter works as a travel guide in Pattaya and I can get some alternatives for you,not online but good value,clean etc.
There is so much choice in Pattaya,from 300 a night air rooms to 3000 5 * places.

I just returned from Pattaya/BKK Monday. I stayed at the Penthouse hotel in pattaya. Its a great hotel in a good location in the middle of everything & has everything- restaurant, 24hr room service, Cats gogo. You dont have to leave the hotel if you dont want to- they'll send them up to your room with a phone call! I stayed in room 204 called the Pattaya room- 205 was also the same. It was not noisey. I met the owner Dudley- I think he's an american. Ask him if you need anything- he'll take care of your needs. my room rate Was $30us- well worth it- look it up on his website. stay there, you'll like it!

I decided on the Flipper Hotel instead of the Penthouse only because the Flipper got back to me right away, and I sense a little brown honey at the other end of my e-mails! Her name is Sinchai (christ, hope that's not a man's name!) and she was very accomodating.
Maybe Penthouse next time!

Well, chaps,
as for accomodation in Pattaya I had a strange but good experience:
(a) have to say, that I rather prefer some class, even if it costs a bit more.
(b) But when I once decided to go to the beach (Pattaya) with two TGs I was sharing some days with in BGK, we just got a limousine from the TAWANA RAMADA where we stayed and the girls said, they knew a good place in Pattaya. So we went and they made the chauffeur go to a shabby looking place not far away from the seaside street Pattaya, more by the side where you would arrive by road from BGK (is that north? south? Don't know.) There we had a pavillon for ourselves, bedrooms, bath, fridge, sitting-room, clean, self-catering, no luxury whatsoever = VERY CHEAP and even for my likings perfectly allright! Rather spent the money saved for good dinners in seafood-restaurants with the girls than paying it to a hotel! 5 min. walk to the beach, 5 min walk to the main tuk-tuk lines seaside-street.
Damn - I never knew the name of the place and it does not matter: Just take a girl from BGK to show you a place in Pattaya and there you are!

hello ,i have stayed at the welkom inn on soi2 and found it to be good ,the rooms are fair and the staff are good the food is great and they have a short time bar on sight .there is no problrm bringing girls back if you come in from the soi 2 entrance you dont even see any one .

I have stayed at but can not recommend The Penthouse Hotel for a number of reasons 1. The place seemed very dirty with rough wall surfaces full of dust and dirt. 2. The rooms are very dark and I think have a dismal feel. 3. They are trying to create a fantasy envirement and are sucessful to a degree but I noticed that each lady I brought back to my room was very uncomfortable in this envirement. one even refused to stay LT after seeing the room.
But there is no problem in booking a room there they are legit so no worries.
If you are seeking a nice low cost hotel with lots of amenities then check out the Welcome Inn definatly the most for the least in Pattaya

Thanks Butterflyboy, and I got the exact same feeling from just looking at the place online and reading reviews. I'm sure it would be perfect for some folks, but the more I thought about it the more I wanted a place to rest that a bit more conventional. I figure that I'll be in and out of somewhat dingy and dark bars during my stay, and I'd rather have my hotel not feel like that also. And you made another really good point that I thought about: the girls probably don't mind a cleaner looking place...
