I'm booked to stay there next month, having read all the great reports. I was particularly watching for the joiner rules there.
Decided to e-mail them and got a response that it cost 1000 Bht to have a joiner.
Girl friendly?????
Maybe things have changed, anyone visited there in the last month or so?
Maybe they say that if you ask but it is not actually enforced. I certainly hope so or else I'm staying in the wrong place.
Ideas anyone?

This remind me of the story of the guy who went forward to ask the bus driver if he could smoke.
Driver: No, can't you read the sign that reads "No Smoking"
Guy: Not even in the back?
Driver: NO!
Guy: But there are many smoking at the back
Driver: They haven't come to ask me
Others may not pay, but now, after asking ... you will most likely have to pay.

If you book single occupancy, they will normally want to hit you up for the joiner fee. Booking double occupancy normally works.

The question wasn't asked by me (as it were) ... just a guy making an enquiry.
Yes, I think that will end up being the case, as on the bus, was just wondering if anyone has had very recent experience and can clarify is all.

Xplurer, I can confirm what BK said.
U will have no problems if u book a double room: could happen that entering with a joiner, she will be asked for ID datas (for security reasons), but no additional fees will be asked to you.
The LM staff usually add a temporary check-in desk just in front at elevators' doors, late in the evening: the boy who sit there, just check joiner ID, and if your room is booked as a 'double'

I think the hotel's reaction depends upon how your face fits or maybe I was just lucky.
I was there last week for 4 days, booked a double but paid single occupancy (24 flour) and my TG stayed for the duration without us once being challenged, No ID check nothing.
I think this maybe because we used the hotel facilities quite a lot and perhaps looked like a couple.

I usually do not even ask and consider the HTL girl friendly , until they tell me I have to pay.
And when entering the HTL , I do not march through main door and through the lobby.
Plan B : Check a bar in the HTL and if they ask something , just say You are going in the bar.
Later , You "forgot" what they had said...

A few weeks ago I stopped by the Landmark to look at their rooms. I asked about joiner fees and they quoted me the 1000 baht you mentioned. Now I was staying at the Grand Inn in a perfectly acceptable room for 1000 a night, but obviously a different class hotel. My guess is if you check in with your Thai girl as a couple there would be no charge but if you're going to butterfly you probably will. Why stay in a place where they discourage female companionship?

I stayed at the Landmark for 10 nights during the last week in May/June. I had zero problem with companions. I took a woman to breakfast on the conceiage level, and was told that I had a single not a double. I booked a double. I told the staff that I had booked a double, that was the last I heard of it. I say very girl Friendly.

I was at The Landmark over Xmas and New Year December 2003. No problems, very friendly towards guests (no fees). Stayed there for 2 weeks, gave me a couple of days free of charge and they upgraded my room to a suite. Excellent service, will be happy to use it again. Need more info you can e-mail me.
