Hey Bros, Its been a while since I've posted here, been pretty busy. I have made time to make a return visit to LOS. This time my brother will be coming. Last time I was there I stayed at the Regency Park Hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 22. The hotel was "ok" but nothing to write home about. I guess is was good for the price. This time I'm looking for somewhere different - still in the Sukhumvit area though. I'm currently deciding between The Rembrandt Hotel, Four Wings Hotel, The Tai-Pan Hotel and the Novotel Lotus Hotel or even the Majestic Suites. I've read through various threads on all these and the posts have been mixed. Some say guest firendly others say not and the same for the value for money My only needs are - the hotel needs to be VERY guest friendly and the rooms value for money (I'm not exactly staying at The Landmark but still want something decent) and runs for under 2000 baht. Hey Skip! When I spoke to you back in December last year you rated the Tai-Pan highly as value for money and for its location. I've noticed you have since changed your preferred hotel to the Zenith. This hotel seems pretty good but I'm a little worried about the ambiguous guest policy. I'd like to avoid any sort of attention . Also, how is the walk of shame? (I know - why be ashamed? Well, its just the way I am). Which hotel was the easiest to get your girl in? Tai Pan or Zenith? Anyone advice (on things such as the latest guest policies, value for money, etc) on any of the above hotels would be great. My travels dates will be 01 November - 15 November. Cheers guys!

Thanks for your quick response JR I've heard that the Ambassador Hotel has been on the decline for some time now. Is this still the case?

Yo! MrNobody! Nice surprise to see you posting again after so long an absense. I was wondering where you been and how you was, and how long it would be before the pleasures of the LOS would be calling you back. I hope life has been kind to you in the interim bro. Yea, I'm torn between the two. As far as walks of shame there is more of it to be had at the Tai-Pan for sure. The counter girls are right in front of you and a tad too much on the hissy-miss-prudish side so they don't mind throwing you a bit o' stink eye's (as the Hawaiian saying goes). Where as in the Zenith you never gonna get the walk of shame, since you'll be skipping the registration desk (floor) entirely as you go in and instead it'll be bellmen and security guys you'll be dealing with. The ones I encountered were either all business or "mai pen rai" guys so it was cool either way to me. But despite the Tai-Pan walk of shame I still plan on checking in in a couple of days since their food, location, rooms and boutique 'feel' all really appeal to me. And, in my case I'll be checking in with a new tilac who'll enjoy being on the room registry with me. I kinda doubt I'll hear that, "wow!" escape her lips when she sees the room like she did at Zenith. I plan on speaking directly with either the GM, Front Desk Mgr., or both about their policy and try to pin its specifics down. Zenith pool is way more better, but Tai-Pan's exercise room is better. What about location? What part of Sukhumvit do you want to be? And also, there's some nice serviced apartments around too. I was jsut down the street and across from the Queens Park Hotel where I found this place. It looks really prime but at an attractive price AND with in-room high speed net (big plus I think!) Try check it out too: http://www.admiralsuites.com/ You do have plenty of time though to decide however so wait for a bit more research on the forums part before you book anything. And tell me this too, are you talking 2k baht per day for the 2 of you together, or are you talking 4k together? If your budget is 4k you could go suite shopping and that will open up many more options. Let us know and we'll do some more research for you. Take car bro!

JackRabbit present... Opinions vary. I'd say NO , Ambassador is not too downhill. Personally I have liked TW-rooms. When on holiday , am not going to spend too much time in room. JR

Yeah, I've been pretty good. Been keeping myself busy at work And you? The 2K baht was each. We plan on taking separate rooms so 2K baht per room is our buget. I checked out the Admiral Suites Serviced Apartments. They look great! A search on it shows a few threads where some of the Bros have stayed there and they talk highly of it. I'll look into it a bit more before I settle but it definitely looks like the one! Have you had a chance to look inside? Has anyone had any problems with girls at this place? Cheers,

2k baht will get you some real nice hotels. Unless you are really swimming in lots of cash I would be somewhere in the 800-1500 baht range to find very decent rooms. I don't think paying more than that yields a big difference. I stayed at the Ambassador Hotel recently and don't understand the opinion that it is run down. Maybe it is in the old wing, I stayed in the Tower Wing. If anything is run down, I would have to say the Nana is.

Me? Well! I'm in the midst of 8 weeks holiday in LOS. Life is good! Every trip it gets better, and I mean life AND the LOS. LOL The Saints right bro! Four thousand baht will but you a lot of quality options. I agree the Ambassador's new wing might be nice as well and they do appear to be upgrading. But you could set yourselves up well in the Grand President. too. Same company also has a new serviced apartment- the Pres. Solitare. I think the URL is http://www.presidentsolitare.com every unit has DVD, PLasma TV plus the finest decorating. Nt sure of the lcation but think it's soi 11. Anyway I called to check it out and was quoted 20k/week and 60k/month. Even that is in your budget, yes? As for Admiral Suites they are a tad far down the soi but the Emporium stop BTS is near enough, as is the park. And there's a very nice coffee shop out front that seems to service the apartments quite well. I think with your generous budget you oughta really think about where you'd like to set yourself up. The Zenith certainly is sweet being right across the street from Grace and having the great suites, roof, and pool. Up to you bro!

Majestic Suites. Was there a little over a week ago. Stayed two nights. Excellent value for money. Very guest friendly. Have stayed at Regency Park (good hotel - so.so location) and Tai Pan (good value, good location - undefined guest policy)and would stay at Majestic Suites ahead of both for the night life (and I'm a Cowboy man not a Nana man). Rooms are lacking a bit of natural light and if they do blow up Nana plaza you'll have to stick your fingers in your ears but still think its a winner. Oh yeah, and it was full most nights when others were almost empty - that says a lot to me.
