Hi all, I'll be in in BKK and was thinking of staying at the Rembrandt Hotel. I didn't know their guest policy so what better way then to email them and ask if they have a joiner fee. They said it was 1000 bahts per guest. Outrageous! I will not be staying there. What I did learn though is that you can ask the hotel if they are girl friend and they will answer you. I have stayed at many hotels before including amari watergate, nana, fortune, the grand, etc and never had any problem with bring girls in before. Have to say that I look exactly like thai though but not.

TGL2 I stayed at the Rembrandt a few years ago on my first proper vist (i.e. without western gf). They seemed to make it very clear in all the room literature, check in details etc. that "guests" were not really welcome. I used ST places on that trip, but I did notice a lot of farangs hanging out with girls in the lobby bar, coffee shop etc. who appeared to be bar girls. The security and lobby layout didnt seem to lend itself to discretion, so I guess it was a matter of greasing palms. My solution was to spend a week in Pattaya and choose a different hotel for my next visit. Not sure if this helps, but I would tend to avoid the Rembrandt although I remember the rooms being pretty good.

For Phuket it's not always the same some hotel who are not guest friendly in high season become guest friendly in low season. In general 4 and 5 stars hotel are not guest friendly in Phuket and other hotel who have joiner fees they make the fees expensive to discourage you to do so.
