HI all, might sound like a stupid question..
I have never really stayed in hotels before so don't know about them... so If the room says $30.00
is that just for me?.. or do I have to pay $60.00 if I want to bring a TG back?..
how much do I pay for a room, I mean I want one double room with a big bed?..natural its for two...
so what does this extra charge mambo jumbo mean??

The rate for a double room is not twice the single occupancy rate. It is marginally higher. It usually goes to cover the cost of the extra linen you would use and also the complimentary breakfast for the second person if that is included in the tariff.
If you intend to bring a girl to your room at night (daytime is usually ok), always better to pay for a double room.

What Kris advises is dead right. You must book double occupancy. All the on-line agents make it clear about the rates being for single or double.
I have noticed big variations between agents for the same hotel. There isn't one agent that is always the cheapest for all hotels so it is essential to shop around.

really I always stay in condos or love motels, which don't charge extra, just you pay for the room...
also I am only 27 and when I did travel to singapore, Bangkok I went through the travel agent, so I really don't know, and when I travel to other countries I usually stay with friends, and here in korea I stay in sex hotels, which are really nice acually, 30bucks and thats it
2 -3 -4 people doesn't matter just pay for the room....
So I will pay double occupancy then, so its just a little more right?...do ou know prices for nana single and double occupancy rates....???

MysteryMan has a point, for example:
If you stay at the Ambassador Hotel on Suk. Soi 11 and you are booked into a double room....If you bring a girl back then you will need to "check her in" and pay and additional 500 Baht for the night....

I have stayed at the Ambassador Hotel in the tower wing several times and have never had a problem as I always pay for double occupancy. Maybe I have just been lucky?

I paid 50$ in Amari Boulevard plus another 20$ for doubble occupancy (king size bed). I was stopped every night by the portier. The girl was never asked for ID or registry, all he did was to check that I in fact had registered a doubble. No fees. Considering the location close to several spots NEP/Beergarden, I think it was a good arrangement.
Kris, If I understand you right, Ambassador is a good deal as well, is it central?

Ambassador hotel is as good a location as you can get, On Sukhumvit.
I havn't tried it yet but just got on-line quote of 30 US$ per night for double room in the better Tower Wing. I was just about to confirm my booking when I spotted this thread.
On principle I don't want to be caught with joiner fees.

You say you have stayed there several times without problems. Can all the other brothers list how often and when they have stayed there so that we have a clearer picture??
For location on Sukhumvit, Manhattan hotel might be better for guests, Any comments??
On soi 23 I stayed again at Tai-Pan hotel. Definitely no guest issues there but I was just fancying a change and a move up Sukhumvit. But know I am not so sure. Perhaps I will go again to Tai-Pan.

I like your idea about all of us providing input regarding the hotels. Is it possible to set up a page where we can load scores from 1-5 regarding preset criterias like price, guestfriendly, location etc.
