Hey bros, any of you ever stayed at this hotel? or anyone have any info?
I know it is well away from the action, but this year's visit has a different purpose.

Addendum: It is located in Bang Plad district on the west side of the CP, on Charansanitwon rd.

I have never slept there but went for lunch a number of times. It looks like a good value for money, definitely not a 5* but a good 3*. Good views on the river and the city.
The location is quite good also for tourists, close to Vimanmek, museums, the zoo, wat pra geow...etc

Hey Marco, I stayed there in January. It wasn't a bad hotel, it wasn't great either. Like Bromad mentioned, it's about a 3 star. The best part about the hotel is its close proximity to the River Bar. If you want to PM me I can send you some pictures from my room overlooking the River Bar, I have like 2 shots. River Bar is a cool place to have dinner and drinks, they got great waittresses there.
However, I would not stay there again because of the location. It takes FOREVER to get anywhere because traffic around that area is so bad. Cab fare to get to Club 20 on Ratchadaphisek was like 120 baht I think. It just made going places a chore... But the room rate was 800 baht per night. We decided after 2 days to move back to the Fortune Hotel which we got in at a rate of 1200 baht for the business suite which was much nicer and the location is close enough to where I like to hang out and it's got all the little shops and american eateries in the mall next door. That's going to be my regular hotel from now on... Make sure you say it right to the cab driver though, FOR-CHOOON (extra emphasis on the CHOOON)

How did you get the rate of 1200 bath for a business suite at the fortune hotel? The rate on the internet is about 1500 bath for a superior room.

Actually it was 1150 per night for the business suite. This was because my friend's girlfriend is a hotel manager in Pattaya. She got us a discounted rate and I think she even got a finder's fee. The internet rates I noticed for all the hotels is higher than what I pay when I'm there but I'm usually getting discounts thru my friend's GF.

royal river is a nice hotel away from the hustle and bustle. i would say it is a nice place to relax and chill out as the current occupancy is very low(was there in Jul 03). however, it really takes a long time to get sukhumvit, ratchada etc due to traffic...IMHO
