Anybody have any knowledge of the Somerset Hotel? I see it is said to be g/f but how is it in terms of breakfast, room size etc?

This is nice & cozy hotel. Certainly Girl friendly . Best part is , Reception is on 1st floor , and your disembarkation point ,means when you come out of any car or Taxi, is on ground floor . So no one actually can see you when you come out of taxi and go to the lift . Also there is a massage parlour on the ground floor . You can take the girl to your room for private massge . But limited choice with the girls. may be two or three . If you stay in this hotel, please send me a report as well.

And breakfast is buffet style, good choice . Room is good, not small at least . Double bed, bathroom is also good. Only minus point which may not be for every body, is the hotel is slightly in-side from the main road. That's all . otherwise, it is worth paying the rate .

Nice hotel and inbuilding pool and the reception is at the first floor but at nighttime the elevator doesn't go to the ground floor and you have climb the stairs to the reception but never had problems with this and no joiner fee.

Arrived here yesterday. Cannot really complain for 1700bht but the place does need a facelift; paper peeling in my room, only seven TV channels --NO RUGBY.
But breakfast v good and I think the roommaid wants to hump me. I quite like big anonymous hotels (NOT Asia or Amaris) as more discreet. Mixed guests incl. middle-aged/elderly farangs with TGs. Sign at receptions says extra person 500bht.

Rugby today was like a cure for insomnia. So you did not miss much in that respect. Hope the room "service" lived up to expectations.

I don't care for this hotel. I paid 1,500 or so, compared to 1,000 for Manhatten. (double, king bed), and it's got the same peeling wallpaper (but no roaches.)
That's not why I dislike it, though. I dislike it because it has linked aircon between two rooms. So you get to hear your neighbor through the vent. Similarly through the bathroom vent. I got put in next to a cougher. If I was paying 500 bht a night, well, maybe ok. But not for 1,500 (and their list price is in excess of 2,000)
I dislike the placement of the bathroom as well - the door is directly off of the bed (2' away), with louvered doors. Bathroom door should be off the entrance, so there's at least some semblance of separation of facilities.
Towels were also chintzy/cheap.
This morning, the bloody phone rang, and the guy wanted to know if I had any laundry. At 9:30am.

I have to agree with the above. It looks good at first glance, but after a few hours it starts to disappoint: there is something tacky about the interior design and the pool is pretty bad (shallow and sunless.) The buffet was better but after a day or two it gets pretty tiresome..
But I went there a few years ago so things might have changed.

was there in 2000. the a/c noise & bathroom placement were irritable, though not intolerable. I had to pay the additional bht500 for guest. my one major gripe was that the place seemed deserted. maybe it was b/c I was the only resident on my floor.
