IMHO one thing that I always look for is in room safe. Puts to rest the issue of someone stealing your money, credit cards, passport etc. Here my list of hotels in BKK and Pattaya. I hope others on this board will add to this list.

Least expensive hotel I've stayed at with in-room safe was Majestic Suites. Separate key access, instead of setting a number, makes this a less desirable safe. A super paranoid traveler may like the safes at Shangri-La, uses 6 digits instead of the usual 4. Also makes it easier to forget the number.
I have yet to stay at a 4 star hotel, or better, without an in-room safe. However, Tawana Ramada charged extra to use the safe. I think it was 300/day, but might have been 200. Makes up for the free morning newspaper delivered under the door.

Yes Adrimal suites one off my fav's 4 digit code and no joiners fee.
However as my next trip (yes!!! bring it on) is a work one does anyone know of a guest friendly hotel with room safe big enough for a laptop?

You can get your laptop in the safe at the Conrad quite easily (if it hasn't been blown up by then  ). I have quite a small laptop (no sniggering please  ), but seemed to be loads of room in there, it almost reminded me of an ex of mine ...555

When I stayed at the Admiral, the safe in my Deluxe Studio apt had a safe that was large enough for laptop. I recall that others have reported they had smaller safes in their Superior Studio. I don't know if the safe size varies by room type, or if my room was just an exception.
