Conrad Hotel. Good luxury hotel, modern decoration etc, completely guest friendly, you can bring few guest in without any questions or problems.Stuff are very friendly and helpfull, especially falang managers like excecutive floor manager or reception manager. The spa, massages, hair cut etc is outstanding. Minuses: 1.VERY expensive-I never see Kao Pad Gung cost thousand bath plus.. 2.At my opinion not enought restaraunts for such a big place, service is very slow and confusing-if you want to change the meal from the original menu version, you will get wrong thing, and it's not one only experience.. 3.GYM is not up to date at my opinion at least, but I'm heavy user and I need a lot of free weight etc. So the bottom line: good but not perfect

I have stayed at the JW Marriott and the Sheraton Grande. I love both those hotels, and, on my last stay I decided to give the Conrad a try. The rooms were gorgeous and modern. The TV was big, and the bathroom was fully loaded with amenities. But, I simply couldn't adjust the hard mattress. In my opinion these were the hardest mattresses I ever slept on. So, the next day I booked a massage in my room, figuring it would help. Well the massage was fantastic. But, no extras. Not here, don't even ask. But, the cost of the 1hr massage in the room was well over 4000Baht. That is more than any massage I ever paid for in Thailand, especially without extras. But, I do like the disco Club 87, hottest chicks in town, IMHO. But, again, the price for this club is so incredibly expensive. Lalake ps, I checked on staying there for the APEC summit. Rooms start at US$240, whereas right after the summit, the prices go back to US$90.

I was at Club 87 a couple of weeks ago. It was not bad, but there were way more guys than girls. One of the forum bro told me that the entire Conrad Hotel is wired for wireless internet. Anyone tried the connection?

I'm at the Conrad this week and I was a little perturbed by the security precautions: soldiers with rifles, bomb-sniffing dogs etc. As a hotel, it's a really nice place. I'm in a deluxe corner room and the Executive Floor Lounge rocks. Free-flow of food means I can go for multiple breakfasts (me of the ample waistline) unlike other hotels where breakfast is a one-shot affair (can you tell I like multiple shots?). Compared with say, the Shangri-la, the deluxe rooms are a slightly lesser product. The Conrad room is smaller and does not have a couch. There was no turn-down service for me (probably a service blip). Service was a little shabby - room service trays left outside were still there after 5 hours. The bathrooms lack a his-n-her wash basin unlike the Shangri-la but compensates with a free-standing bathtub that has louvered windows by the side that open, giving a breathtaking city-view. The lobby area is a little pedestrain (it does not take your breath away). But a nice hotel nonetheless.

Piston, The reason there are so many guards is that the Conrad, along with the Marriott are on the JI APEC hit list published this week by the CIA. I for one appreciate the extra security especally after being turned out of the Makati Oakwood in the middle of the night a few months ago. Allows for a good night sleep without having stray bombs or coup instagators wake you up. Cheers,

Internet connection is fast and good in the room, however it's not wireless and it cost 640 bath for 24 hours. Was unable to connect MSN messenger, but ICQ and mail was fine.If you stay at executive floor, just use their computers,it's free, and it's good. Furthermore they have wireless connection in lobby and on 7'th floor.
