It's not that near Patpong...on the other side of the river in fact, cross from the bottom of Sathorn Road at Saphan Taksin.
Meant to be very nice.

You probably know it is on the other side of the river which will add a little hassle to your commute....Have not stayed there. I always stay at the Sheraton Royal Orchid ...On the Patpong side of the river. Very girl friendly, very nice rooms and beautiful views including the Penn Hotel just across the river.....

new peninsula is in bankapi, surawong road. (do not mix up with suriwongse).
you will be outside the city, (25 to 30 km). rate is 800 baht, all. incl. but makes no sense to stay there unless you work in the area.
not to be mixed up with the peninsula on chao phraya.

Isn't Surawong just the usual short version of Surawongse? Like Ratchada(pisek) etc? At any rate, I've always taken them for one & the same.
Hotel looks a good deal for B800 in that area. Actually, there are several non bank-busting 'boutique' hotels in Sathorn/Silom/Surawong which serve very nicely for a Patpong LT.
