Hi All, Could you please advise which hotel would be very guest friendly, i.e. NO EXTRA Charges for guests, different and perhaps multiple every day. I would also like to stay near the main action (Sukhmvit or Cowboy) and perhaps you know the best plact to book it (Online vs. the Hotel). Oh Yeah, good airconditioning is a must. I was looking at the Ambassador but lately there are conflicting opinions. Thanks in advance ... Anewid

i heavily vote for the Royal Parkview on soi 22. excellent location to cowboy, nana, soi 33 and all the soi 24 / 26 clubs. if you can negotiate the price will be around thb 1,300 a night. if you are lucky you can also get a junior suite for that price. this hotel used to be part of the mercure group but was dropped due to the inconsistency of service. security is so tired after midnight that they don't even bother at looking at you!

Always stayed at the Nanatai Mansion, around 800 m at end of Soi 4. Nice rooms from 800-1000B. Nice restaurant and pool is fine incl. a small gym. Staff is very guest friendly. It is a 7 min walk down to NEP but there are a few nice restaurants and bars on the way and pool bars, where it's worth to check them out. Soi 4 is going through a couple of changes at the momo and it's nice to see that. Try the Steak One Restaurant for example, just 100 m before NEP and opposite Bus Stop Bar. Juicy steaks, friendly staff and real cheap. A.

Hi Anewid, You could put aside all your worries and check into the Ambassador. Even I had heard the conflicting opinions on whether the Ambassador being guest friendly or not. I had stayed there in July 2003 for 7 days. Brought back BG's for four different occasions. The first time they asked me to pay the Guest fee of 500 Bhats. I immediately told them that I had checked in for double occupancy. The clerk just checked into his computer and apologised. After the first time I simply had no problem bringing back guests into the hotel at anytime of the day or night. Just make sure that YOU BOOK FOR A DOUBLE OCCUPANCY and book your room in the Tower Wing of the hotel and not the Main Wing. The main wing sucks is quite old and only for a small additional fee you can upgrade to the Tower Wing that is much better than rooms in the Main Wing. I stayed at both the Tower and the Main Wing therefore I know. I think that the tariff for the Tower wing was $32 approx 1350 Bhats including taxes. Also book only through the internet as walk in tariffs are very high. At the time I visited BKK it was about $46(taxes incl). I used http://www.planetholiday.com. The BKK staff of this travel company is also very friendly. I had to extend my stay for an additional 5 days while I was in BKK. Hense I approached the Hotel Manager. He blankly told me to pay 1900 Bhats or there is no vacancy. Then I called up the planet holiday ppl and booked the room thru them and they gave me immediate confirmation (And that too with a smile... Now I know why they call BKK as the Land of Smiles LOS). So take my advice, check into the Ambassador, book for double occupancy and if the staff confronts you (which they will only the first time) tell them about the double occupancy. Secondly when you get a BG back to the room tell her to deposit her ID card at the Hotel Desk so that when she leaves they would call you back in your room and check whether everything is fine. Only then she would get her card back. Another tip. Use the hotel safe (its down in the lobby adjacent to the reception) for all valuables etc as they dont have any safes in the hotel rooms and there is no charge for renting the safe. Do let me know if you require any further information. I would be comming to BKK in Feb 2004 and would definitely be staying at the Ambassador.

anewid, Personally my vote at this time goes to Majestic Suites. After staying in Dynasty Inn, Majestic Suites was definitely a better choice. Rooms are a little small but comfortable. Price is OK and staff there were very pleasant. I also liked that everything from you front door to the safe is electronically controlled. Even the room lights and alarm (useful after a night 'workout') are just by the bedside within easy reach. Only thing is that there weren't many channels on the TV but than again how much time do you actually spend in front of the TV.
