I figured I would post on my hotel experiences in BKK over the past few weeks. I know I like it when I read updates on some places that don't get mentioned that often.

Novotel Lotus (soi 33). Nice hotel with an accomodating staff. It's listed as a 4-star but the rooms are showing their age a bit by this point. Overall, I like this place for the price I normally pay (US$35-40) and I like that they collect a TG's ID - some of the brothers can vouch for my gratitude on this point.

President (formerly Le Meridian President). I stayed here a few nights - my first time. It's 4-star hotel that used to be 5-star and in my opinion is a mid-level 4-star right now. The staff was friendly, the rooms were a bit nicer than Lotus but still showed signs of wear, and the pool and gym facilities were both pretty good as well. It's a long walk through a shopping arcade to the elevators to the room and if you bring a TG with you, the security post at the elevator will be there to collect an ID. Overall, not a bad place given the price (US$40) and it's right next to a SkyTrain station. Note: the hotel is due to be closed soon for major renovations so this info is likely to be dated soon.

JW Marriott. Been here many times and it continues to be my favorite BKK hotel. Great staff, excellent rooms and facilities, and a nice location with enough security to hold off an invading army (goddamn terrorists). I really like this hotel and am usually successful in Pricelining a room for $55-60/night.

Hope this info helps some of the brothers out. Cheers!

I stay at the Lotus reguarly, you'll be happy. No hassle environment, great Breakfast and most of the rooms i've stayed at were in great shape. Tend to pay the extra $10 and take the Deluxe rooms over the Superior! Locations great, near BTS and lots of action in Soi 33!

To those of you whoon have read my raves about the Center Point... I just feel like repeating myself.

So far, at 1, 700 Baht ($45 US), I got a 43 sq/m room, with kitchenette, daily maid service, nice view, right across from Pantip Plaza.

Professional and courteous staff, good breakfast buffet (though not exceptional), a nice pool, fitness room, sauna and everything is just a 50 Baht taxi ride away from everything (or just 2-3 stops by BTS).

Quiet, nice, oh, and did I mention that every room has high-speed internet (real high-speed), at no extra charge.

Worth the $45.

I have also been stabled at the JW Marriott when in town for the past two or three years. Comfortable rooms with a wonderful health club. Very friendly staff who are most polite to my lady friends. My steady one really enjoys the breakfast buffet.

How did you get the rate you mentioned for the Lotus - direct booking - their website shows higher prices.

Can you tell me how you get 55/60 US for the JW Marriot hotel in BKK because I'm not able to go under 110 US from the several bookings agencies.

Merjin, try Priceline.com. But before you go to priceline.com, go to biddingfortravel.com and do a little bit of research. Make sure you read the FAQ's on that website.

I recently just got the JW Marriott for $55 a night through priceline for 11/21/03-11/30/03, also booked a couple nights there for my return to Bangkok same price, 12/5/03-12/7/03.

I think there was another post/thread recently about a special on priceline's Hong Kong site. Worth checking out.
