Does anyone know the name or address of a decent (sic!) Motel near Central Bangna / Soi Udomsuk? (That side of Bangna - Trad highway for preference, not Theparak side). An idea of the rates would be useful too.

There is one - I can't remember the name - very near the intersection of Udom Suk and Sukhumvit, on the left side if you go towards Suk. Maybe about 500 meters from the traffic lights, almost opposite Udomsuk Towers and before the Udom Suk market.
I've never been there so I cannot tell the prices, and my girl at that time - many years ago - did not want to check in there for some reason. Maybe because she used to live in U.T.?
In the end I turned to renting small apartments there, 3,000 Baht per month, to be used a few time a week for those precious few hours.
Later on - in order to avoid detection from Udom Suk Girl - I used the motel "40 Winks" off Sukhumvit (Soi 40 - connecting to Rama IV) near Ekkamai. Not too far from Udom Suk if the traffic is right.
There is yet another option if you turn left from Udom Suk towards Samrong, U-turn somewhere near Phrapadaeng :-( and return (there are easier ways to get there from Srinakharin, I believe). As usual, I forgot the name... not as nice as the 40 Winks (hope I got THAT name right) but location of an odd threesome (lights off one girl in bed the other locked in the bathroom).
All this information is a little outdated as it was some 5-7 years ago, even the 40 Winks was like 3 years ago.

Well if it is about hotels and not motels, then a few alternatives to the Novotel spring to mind:
- Royal Princess Srinakarin next to Seacon Square,
- King Park Avenue opposite Seacon Square (short time rooms about 500 THB in 1997),
- another big hotel (forgot the name) opposite Macro on Srinakarin down Theparak way (also short time rooms and a few Karaoke cocktail girls).
