Just wanted to let everyone know about the Landmark Club. I should start by saying that I really like the Landmark. It is expensive for thailand but I think worth it if you wanna splurge for a few days. During the off-season great deals can be had through the hotel.
I have stayed at the Landmark, Majestic Suites, Manhattan, and Grand President and I deff. like the landmark the best. Last summer I was staying in the giant executive suite for less than 100 dollars a night, which is expensive, but worth it I think.
I just signed up for the Landmark Club. It cost one hundred dollars but you get 2 free upgrades plus a free night in a deluxe room plus 40 percent of the rack rate. So all in all it is a good deal.
Just my 2 cents.
I liked the manhattan also although it is not the best location and pretty run down. Rooms are big though and staff is nice. plus it is very girl friendly. Majestic suites is friendly and rooms are new, plus loaction is great, but the rooms were a little small and claustraphobic for me. Grand President was nice for a longer stay, had a great 1 br apt. but I got really tired of walking to sukumvit. I know, pretty lazy. However I found that when I was at Landmark or Majestic, if I got a sudden itch I would just run around the corner to nana and pick something up, whereas by the end of my stay at the GP, if it was late I would often just have a date with rosey palms and go to sleep.  I guess thats what happens when you get spoiled by LOS.

"...I'm thinking about making reservations for it tomorrow at a rate of $25 US...but I don't want to be staying in any dump...what do you mean by run down and not the best location? IS the bathroom decent? I definitely plan on having some overnighters as well. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Ok- Manhattan vs. Majestic-
Majestic is much newer and cleaner I think. The location is also better in my opinion as it is just around the corner from Nana. Majestic staff are very nice and the place is totally girl friendly. Pretty much everyone staying there is going to Nana at some point. The main down side are that the rooms are small. I deff. like to be able to chill in my room and sit in the A/C and watch tv for a few hours and so a small room is a serious down side for me. I found the rooms a bit claustraphobic. If the rooms weren;t so small majestic suites would be an A++.
Manhattan- this place is a good deal too. It is a much older hotel than the majestic and it shows. The carpet is a bit run down and the rooms could all use a renovation. On the other hand, the rooms are all fairly large. The one problem I had were roaches in the room. Twice. This grosses me out a little. However, Manhattan is also girl friendly (be sure to book a double though), I took two girls up a couple of times and no one said anything. Room service is pretty good and cheap. Staff are very nice. I actually like the location, it is only a 3-5 minute walk to nana, a quick ride, or bit longer stroll to Soi Cowboy. Robinsons is close, as is a great chinese restaurant on the corner. It is off Suk. and when you turn down the soi there are a couple of very persistent guys who will try and sell you bags or clothes EVERY single time you walk past. The japanese restaurant in the Manhattan is pretty good too.
I don;t know about breakfast in either place as I was never up that early.
If the manhattan were as new as majestic suites I would say perfect.
If I were too stay at one or the other again I think I would chose Manhattan because I would personally rather have a larger room that was more run down. But I think many people would feel the other way. If you can afford it I would reccomend either the landmark or the JW. Grand president is a even more of off Suk. but for longer stays is nice, especially if you get a one bedroom. I read good things about the Zenith as well.

I stayed at Manhattan on my last trip, which was a big move from Landmark to Manhattan but I fairly enjoyed my stayed. Rooms are larger and yes it is little worn out but for the price its a awsome deal plus staff is friendly. When comes to location, Clinton plaza is around the corner and Soi cowboy is only 7 to 8 minutes walk so no shortage of cuties around that hotel. Majestic are nice but I agree, rooms are really small and lobby too.
Breakfast at Manhattan was pretty good too as well

I too have moved from Landmark to Manhattan. I have though about it some more and would have to say that I would deff. choose Manhattan over Majestic, just because the more I think about how small the rooms at majestic were, the more I realize that I would never stay there again. I think for the 25 dollar price range Manhattan is probably your best bet.

Double refers to a room for two- so you can get a room with a king size bed that if you are not careful they can still call a single. This is not an issue at some places but at the Manhattan I would be sure to book the room for two and ask for a king size bed.

When you book a double at Manhattan, you usually get a room with twin beds or (if you are lucky coz there are only few of them) a room with king size bed.
Rooms with twn beds are slightly bigger than the second ones.
You might read the manhattan threads and you'll find there lots of info.
