looks like I will be back in BKK in Feb. I am thinking about spending more time in the Soi Cowboy area than Nana, and am looking for any opinions on hotels or serviced apartments in the area for 5 nights.
I have staying at the Majestic a couple of times. No problem with the place, and the rates of about 1300 baht is good.
But I am thinking about a change.
I have been trawling through the forums, and places like the Sheraton are outside my price range.
The place needs to be girl friendly.
Any suggestions on where to go or where to avoid?

The Tai-pan is NOT guest friendly. Try the Honey on soi 19...about 800 baht.
For the ultimate Soi Cowboy hotel, the Jasmine Suites has been getting good reviews - the price is closer to 2400, though.
Regency Park on soi 22 is good, and not too far from Cowboy. Internet deals vary widely from 1200/night up.
Even the S/T hotel at the Asoke end of Cowboy, called...Asoke Place...will rent you a room for about 800 a day. May be a bit more traffic there than you would like though...

Have stayed at Tai Pan a couple of times and had no problems with guests.... but that was a little time ago.... 6 months.... and comments have varied in the threads
Hasn't TPE previously suggested Centre hotel on Suk 19 ?

The Honey hotel is less than a 10 min walk (head along the 'green route' then turn right, down Asoke). I'd consider a Deluxe room (try to get poolside) for THB950-980 or a mini-suite.
The Manhattan and Somerset, both on soi 15, are ~10 mins walk from Cowboy.
The Regency Park is *not* guest friendly if booked via an online agency (B500 joiner fee). However, a *direct* booking with the hotel for ~B1600 then they *are* guest friendly.

We inspected Admiral Suites on Soi 22. Nice rooms, excellent swimming pool and large workout room at the roof. Optional DSL (128Kbs only though).
THB 8,800 for a week. But quite fully booked. Might contact the manager, Said, to see if rooms are available.

I'll second Grumpy's Manhattan suggestion. Staff is friendly, good breakfast buffet, and air con stayed on all day so it was cool when I got back to the room. There is an ATM/Currency Exchange at Robinson's on Soi 19 which was convenient for getting cash on my way to SC. And if you want to head to NEP it's about the same distance as to SC.
