I have already searched, but I know that hotels are upgrading all the time, so was looking for some up to the minute info. So I am going to take a 3 day stop over in BKK, but I am gonna need to stay connected with the office. I have stayed at some hotels (not in LOS) where they have an in house network connection for about 20 bucks a day. Does anybody know of any hotels in Suk area with this? Or, does anybody know if any of the local cyber cafes are open tothe idea of simply unplugging their PC, and simply plug in my laptop?

Most of 4 stars up hotels in Bangkok (and also in other parts of Thailand) have broadband available in the rooms...you can either buy a package or let'em bill you upon check out.... Getting connected in a Internet Shop also is not a problem: they will just plug your laptop into their network (standard JR45) and you'll pay just like if you were using one of their desktops.....if you don't mind to have some people around and eventually some cute TG wrinting e-mails to their "lovers", then the Internet Shop solution is the best & the cheapest!

Noticed JW Marriott had ethernet, not sure of the use cost. You can probably get the hotel for a $55 USD bid on Priceline.com, comes to $65 with taxes, breakfast excluded. At least, that's what I paid earlier this month. Of course, you might get Westin or Landmark instead, don't know if those have it. Otherwise, rates are about $120, I believe.

If you are price sensitive you may want to check how much it will cost rather than if they have it. Some hotels have it for free (e.g. Banyan Tree in room wireless internet free of charge). I have always stayed at the Conrad for recent trips but then end up paying 640 bht per day for internet connection (with no long stay discounts etc.). The Conrad does have free wireless access in the executive floor and public areas, but this doesnt work too well for business use (since the Exec floor, the most appropriate place for a business connection closes at 11pm). They also have free ethernet (RJ45 type connectors) on the exec floor too. The service generally there though is going down hill, and I will be staying at a top end serviced apartment for future visits (which incidentally will save me a lot on internet connection at 3K a month rather than 650 a day).

Not exactly in Suk area, but close by (by BTS), the Novotel in Siam Square (not very Girl friendly!) does have Broadband. From memory it was less than $20 USD per day in July when I stayed there! OTOH Novotel Lotus (Soi 33) only has a inhouse Dial up!

One day most hotels will be networked, (witch millennium, I don’t know), probably a wireless WAN system. What worries me about such networks (wireless or hardwired), is the vulnerability to hacking, fraud, viruses & spying. I would recommend getting the best Firewall, Anti-virus & encryption software you can if you are going to use such a system in a hotel.
