Lest anyone think I haven't poured over tons of hotel posts here, I can promise you that is not the case. Anway, I have a problem. I've reserved a room in the Woraburi, but I'm now having second thoughts, especially since $ isn't going to be much of a problem with my short stay in BKK and reports I've read that the Woraburi isn't the cleanest, nicest place.

Here's what I'm looking for: a CLEAN, convenient Sukhumvit hotel with nice, secure rooms in the 900-1200 Bt range and a pool one could swim laps in. Oh, and GF!

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Try the Majestic Suites. Located just around the courner from Nana. No probs getting girls in and out of the place, they do take their id.

Breakfast is crap, just eggs and bacon, no buffet.

Rooms are a bit small, but a big bed, and a good bathroom, including a double bath.

Rooms have an electronic lock on the door, and also a room safe, that is big enough to get a laptop in.

I got a room for 1300 last time, looks like that is the lowest they will go.

I've been looking at Majestic, but can't verify whether or not they have a pool. I LOVE being able to cool off in a pool during BKK afternoons. 1300 Bt is within reason, though...

No pool at the Majestic Suites. Other then that a great place to stay.

Upon further review, I realize the Manhattan Hotel has a swimming pool. Is it the general consensus that it's a nicer place that the Woraburi?

My room at the Majestic has a view of the pool from Nana hotel, that is a close as it gets when staying there!

I am going back to BKK in Feb, and I am looking at some alternatives between nana and soi cowboy.
Right now, Honey or the Somerset are looking interesting.

Honey does not appear to have a dedicated web site that I could find, but this seems to be used by all of the booking agencies for info and pictures.

My alternative is the Somerset Hotel this has a pool, and I have found a rate of 1350 per night. But the facilities, and also the breakfast look much better.

Also, there are some deals on the Manhatten going around, but I think this is related to some construction work going on, which has resulted in a reduced price.

The Somerset looks really nice, I just wish it was an outdoor pool as opposed to climate controlled...dammit! It appears I have plenty of time to cancel my Woraburi reservations, though (just checked), so I'm definitely still on the hunt!

Keep 'em coming, folks!

I stayed a Woraburi this past August. It is clean and girl friendly. The pool is more like a very big jacuzzi...maybe 10 by 30...no laps. Woraburi is located at the far end of Soi 4 so it's a "little" (5 minute walk) bit of a hassle to get to NEP. They offer a free tuk tuk from hotel to NEP. It is low budget and on a par with Nana and Dynasty. I have stayed at all three in the last year. I am going back to BKK on Tuesday and will stay at the Dynasty because it is cheap, less busy than Nana, girl friendly (you have to pay extra if you bring two girls into the room...300 baht) and right in the middle of the action.

Hope that helps,

Teach

Brother Cnaut I would really think twice about cancelling your reservation at this point. If you plan on going to LOS soon then you need to remember that this is high season there and there have been more then a few threads over the last month that have reported all the usual hotels being full and the possibility of finding rooms near impossible. If you have an actual room confirmed at this time in LOS you are very lucky.

I have stayed at the Woraburi myself and it wasn't that bad ( And I stayed in one of the smaller rooms ). The only real problem I had with the place is that long ass walk to Suk . If money isn't a problem then try one of the bigger, more expensive rooms. They may be a better quality. Then once you're there you can always shop around for something else if you're still not satisfied, although I wouldn't hold out too much hope of finding very many openings ( Hotel wise anyway ). Peace

Thanks, cmore, I'll be sure to hold off canceling until I get something else confirmed.
