HELLO EVERYBODY,
I'm planing my first trip to bangkok in november have searched for a decent hotel to stay and found "The Pallazo" is that a good choice and is is far from the suk road action
all info will be vary much appreciated

I believe this hotel is next to Emerald in Rachada. It's not too far from suk but if you hit traffic it could take up to 45 mins. The only reason to stay in Rachada is the upscale MP's. There are no go go or beer bars in this area.

Palazzo Hotel is next door to Mirage MP, easy walking distance to other Ratchada MPs (Subway, Nataree...). Fairly modern, 3 star, very girl friendly, around 1200 baht a night, popular. Former Regina Hotel now Ratchada City Hotel is another similar choice in that particular area, cheaper, also girl friendly, but Ratchada City is more like a 2 star.
Not for you, if what you want is Sukhumvit/Nana/Cowboy. However these hotels are reasonable choices for those wanting to enjoy the Ratchada entertainment strip. Ratchada is more Asian less falang than Sukhumvit.

Thanks BK. If I am not wrong it means I have to change trains in order to reach Nana BTS or Asoke.
Any idea regarding Pallazo breakfast? Manhattan has a very good spread.
Being girl friendly hotel as stated can I get away by booking single or I have to book double to avoid joiner fees if any?

Haven't stayed at Plazzo for over 12 months but don't imagine it has changed much. Breakfast was pretty awful, although the Asia food was OK the attempt at a "Western" Breakfast was bad! The Hotel is well located and the Rooms good value for money!

I stayed at the ratachda city hotel and the siam beverely recently and was surprised to discover that they were not at all bad. Especially considering the price of 800 baht [total] for the rch and 1200 baht for the sbh.
If one wants to save money then this is a good way to do it and keep the cash for other expenses?
I was told that farangs were not at all welcome in the strip on ratachda as the area is devoted to asians? The hotels were indeed full of aisans with very few farangs but I wonder about how off limits this area is for us farangs?
[It only made me more interested in some ways]
Another thing I thought was odd was that the sbh had a big ad for thai massage 24 hour service in the lobby close to the lifts and also in the rooms.
I was really curious as to how this worked so I phoned reception and asked should I go to reception to avail of this service and they said that a lady would/could come to the room, and asked if I wanted to order
[it was about midnight at the time- my tgf was in the shower] I declined and said maybe tomorrow and then had a look at the advert in the room and when I picked it up I noticed that on the back of it there was, wrote with a pencil, a list of some of the prices from the advert with an additional price as if to say that the offical rate for service a or b was say 500 or 800 baht and then what the girl and the person who wrote this on the back of the advert was offering for a different and more personal kind of massage.
Anyone any experience or insight into this?
Forgive the newbie flavour to this but I was just amazed that the hotle would in effect be endorsing and a part of the sex induistry?
