Does anyone have any information on the Grand Inn Hotel on Sukhumvit Rd??
This appears to be very close to the action but I can't find any reviews or a web site.
Any info would be appreciated.

Are you sure that it's called the Grand Inn? I am not familiar with that one, but there are quite a few hotels on Sukhumvit, and some have Grand in the name:
Sheraton Grande?
Niran Grand Hotel?
Grand Pacific?
These are all on Sukhumvit Road. There is also the Grand Diamond on Petchburi Road. Can you give us a little more to go on? Like what is nearby, how did you hear about it, etc?

As you can see the Grand Inn is just across the road from the Majestic Suits, great location I thought.
This hotel is mentioned in the FLB forum so I was seeking other views.

I see it on that map, but not on some others. That corner is a very crowded and busy corner with a lot of stuff. Later in the evening there are a lot of African and Middle Eastern guys hanging out there. As you can see from the map the Grace Hotel and Coffeeshop, infamous late night spot is nearby. There is, or used to be, a late night disco that was in a back street over in one of those side alleys.
In general:
Nevertheless, it is possible to find budget accommodation in Sukhumvit. Upper Sukhumvit Soi 3 (little Arab/Africa) is a good place to look for cheap accommodation. Look for small inns like Mike's Inn, Grand Inn, and P.R Inn etc. Suffice to say that lodgings around this area with a militant guest policy wouldn't stay in business for long. I would be very surprised if any small hotels in this sleazy suburb of sin are guest unfriendly.
Specifically about the Grand Inn:

Small, very central hotel near the Nana junction on Sukhumvit Road. The listed rates are from 800 - 1200 baht. However, one should be able to get a room for about 600 - 900 baht a night, depending on the room and time of year so do bargain hard. The rooms are clean, quite big with all the usual facilities: air-con, TV, minibar and a tub in the bathroom. It's a stone's throw away from Nana Plaza. No problem with bringing back a lady guest. The reception does check ID cards, however, and holds on to them
So it's a small place, that's why you were having trouble to locate it.

OK chaps thanks for the info.
Doesn't sound like its quite what I'm looking for, so after having a dig around think I'll try the Manhattan. 950 Baht via siam-online sounds like a good price.
