I booked through priceline.com and won a bid from AUG 9 to the 14th at Novotel Lotus hotel. Then still undecided about the dirtiness of Pattaya, I opted out to remain in BKK. So I put another bid in for a five star property this time for $70 per night. Was awarded the Sheraton Grande from the 14th to the 21st of AUG.

How far are these two properties from each other? How far is NANA Plaza? What type of businesses are right outside my door? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Sharaton Grande is between NEP and Soi Cowboy, both easily within walking distance. Novotel Lotus is on the other side of Soi Cowboy, may wish to take the BTS to Nana.

I would estimate the distance between these hotels is about 1/2 km.

Novotel Lotus is on soi 33.

Some excellent bars on soi 33, The Office, Baccus, Blue Bar-B-Q, Monet, Dali, Renoir, Wall Street, great place to stay. Also got the Dubliner and the Londoner close by. For me a far better area than being right on top of Nana Plaza. Easy to get to by taxi...make sure you get a taxi heading into the soi to beat the one way system, though you may need to know a bit more about where you are going.

Also not far from Cowboy.

Good evening buffet, international, Thai, Indian...very good.

Good choice in my book...what did you pay for it?

The Sheraton is right by cowboy.... I am staying at Westin Grande across the street during November. I have been doing some research on nearby stuff if you want I cam PM it to you. You have Rivas right in your hotel which is pick up spot, albeit expensive.

Tigercode73,
Congrats on getting the SGS! BTW, did you just select Sukhumvit and 5* properties? If so, you were lucky getting the SGS, IMHO. It is really a nice place to stay.

I paid $45 a night for Novotel. And $70 per night for Sheraton Grande. I did this by selecting 5* in Sukhumvit and was hoping for JW Marriott but got Sheraton. Hopefully it will be worth the $70 per night.

Just some food for thought - but Sheraton and Westin hotesl are favorite targets of terrorists, and they serve squid in the hospitals.

Tigercode73,
Just wondering if you would consider using Priceline Hong Kong (priceline.com.hk) in lieu of the regular priceline.com?

Mr Alan
In the past, people have gotten the JW Marriott for as low as $55 on Priceline during non-peak periods. Also, I think the Sheraton rack rates are higher than the JW Marriott, and it is closer to a BTS stop than the JW Marriott, so I would not be too worried about staying at the Sheraton. About the only possible advantage to the JW Marriott is that it is close to NEP if you don’t want to get on the BTS.
