Hi guys, i just requested a booking at Majestic Suites and upon return email, thay have requested full payment weeks before I even arrive in bkk. Is this normal? I think I have read other threads suggesting this is not such a great idea (payment upfront). Just wondering as it seems like a good place to stay..I actually can't see why it should be a problem but any thoughts?.. Cheers lads

Do we really care? They ask you to sent money upfront. If you want a room, you comply.... if you don't look for something else. Or do you want us to send them an email to condemn their policy? For reviews of the Majestic, see the other 45 threads. Make your own decision!

Please don't stay there. It's too hard to get a room already. Good times. Good times.

Did they ask for payment, or just a credit card to guarantee? I've stayed there a few times and never paid in advance.

thaiaficionado is right I stayed there before they ask for a copy of your credit card, I paid cash and no charge was added cause I never used the mini bar -hence the name. that was a few years ago personally I find it too noisy -suk to close to, anyway many other places to stay. personally I arrive on thursday and will stay in dynasty cause they have free shuttle to pattaya

Cal, MJ is a very popoular hotel and used by many here on the forum. If they had issues with guests credit card info, we would have read about it here already. MJ website says credit card info needed only for late check in, after 6pm. If you don't like the policy, just stay elsewhere.

I booked a room last week for 2nd April to 5th. The guy Bob was helpful and it felt ok. No request for money up front, though credit card details were requested which is often the norm. As brothers say, if you feel uncomfortable just book elsewhere. Personally, I'm looking forward to staying at MS as I've never been there. Also, looking forward to having a drink with any brothers who are in Bkk over that weekend. Thaitam

You will love the hotel and the service. Excellent choice for a place to stay. No hassle when you bring a TG back to your room. I'm guessing they just want credit card info to secure your reservation and you will not actually pay until you check out. Thats the norm. LS

Dr. Love- This is a newbie thread dude, lighten up. I've never stayed at Majestic, though they probably just wanted your credit card details to hold a room. The Dynasty Hotel is across the street from the Nana Hotel, and is a great alternative. About 1000baht per night. Always my plan B, fallback when the Nana is fully booked. Great value for Cheap Charlies like me.

cal79, is it is possible that you are booking through an internet booking company and not through majestic directly. There are a coupleof internet booking companies that have a confusing website. I just booked majestic through their website last week, for march 29,30. I arrive at 2300 hr so they asked for a credit card guarantee. If I cancel with advance notice no charge. NOTE I have not seen any internet travek discounters that offer a better price than majestic offers on their own website. The internet travel bookers will almost always ask for advance payment.
