You can hang out in the Nana lobby for 24 hours as long as you don't cause trouble. You kind of have to enter the lobby of Nana Hotel to get to the disco. There is a small entrance on the side of the hotel to the disco, but most people enter through the car park by the front desk. There is an entrance fee to Angels (Nana) Disco. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but it might be like 160 baht. It comes with a drink ticket for regular drinks like bottled beer and soda. They went to this to ensure they get some money from the punters looking for their evening friends. Every guy has to pay the fee, with the exception of known regulars to the management. They don't pay, because they usually buy plenty of drinks.

Hi PRINCI, Just got back from BKK stayed at Nana the first few days then moved to Majestic. There is a 160 entrance fee as mentioned to enter the disco, but there is a lobby next to the disco where you can do your scouting for free while downing a drink of your choice. I wrote up my Nana experience under FR section. Cheers

Agreed - Nana is really pretty sleazy, but then if you just want a procession of TGs/BGs to visit your room - well, it may suit, as they are all over the place, apart from in the disco, you can pick them up in the foyer, restaurant or even in the lift ! - at least you dont have to worry about a mistake/knock back in the nana, 99.9% of the TGs you spot there are available

I must have much lower standards than I imagined. I thought Nana was a bit rundown, but clean (cleaned everyday by two nice ladies) with efficient service (laundry and room service). Have I become a Cheap Charlie after just one trip? I think that was part of my happiness with the place: 1000 bht for king size bed, western bath, fridge, tv and fairly large room. And, of course, no hassle with my lady friends. Is Majestic and Manhattan that much nicer?

OK, I'm going to defend the honor of the Nana! First, it is, by far, the easiest choice for a newbie. Everything you need, no uncertainty about guest friendliness, 24 hour access to that shaky puddin'. Second, the rooms are NOT as bad as some would let you believe. And the staff, if you are polite, will go pretty far to accommodate you, IF you ask. If you get a musty-smelling room, let them know that you prefer a refurbished one. Ask for a higher floor to avoid the noise, and on the Sukhumvit side if you want a view. Pay a little extra for a Superior or Deluxe room (I never have) if you want a bit more luxury. Even the regular rooms ALL have a wall with a big window. Compare that to most Majestic rooms, which are like closets in comparison. Free BKK Post, and breakfast, which is decent, and GREAT for people-watching, all make the place a good choice for those who want to be in the middle of the action. As you get more of it out of your system, and learn to appreciate quality over quantity, you tend to go farther afield for your accommodations. A little peace and quiet, and a place where you can have a GTG visit without being branded a lot-lizard. But it's no reflection on the hotel property, it's just the atmosphere. To my way of thinking, people who walk down the soi to the Woraburi, to save 200 baht a night, trade a LOT away. But it's THEIR choice. And knowing more about the fabulous Nana should make it an INFORMED choice. I almost ALWAYS stay there a few days when I first arrive - just to relive old memories... I haven't heard any comparisons between the Grand President and the Manhattan, but from what I have heard about the Manhattan, they are a bit unpredictable about guest policy. For my money, the GP is the next logical step from the Nana. I actually pay LESS at the GP than I do at the Nana, for a MUCH nicer room, and all the advantages of a Serviced Apartment. And soi 11 is, IMO the BEST location in Sukhumvit: quiet, quick shortcut to the soi 7 venues, as well as Foodland on soi 5, proximity to the Skytrain, and the pedestrian overpass, Ambassador Plaza/food court. Soi 11 is PERFECT for longer stays, when the pace at the Nana gets to be too much. But I still LIKE the Nana haam sup
