I'm traveling to BKK in November and I think I'm pretty much sold on the President Solitaire, but I'm trying to find a good deal on it. I saw in a thread that asiahotels.com was recommended to book the hotel at a discount. My question here is do other people recommend it, or if not what problems did they experience? Also, is there a better site for discounts?

The problem with trying to get the best deal on a thai Hotel. Many time the Best Deal on a Thai Hotel is from one of the discount hotel dealers. But not every wholesaler has the same deal on the same hotels. So for the President for example Directrooms.com might have the best deal But for Majestic suites it might be direct with thaihotel.com or some other site. If you have the time to wander around the web try several different sites. I have used Directroom.com and they have given me several good deals and have been good to deal with. But sometimes the great deal they had 6 months ago is gone and now some other site has better prices. So I suggest shopping around if you like.

If you would rather not spend the time check the hotels site and a couple of travel sites.

This how Cheap Charley gets deep discounts when I'm traveling with my family.

This works best during low season and if you are staying 7 days or longer and the longer you stay the better the discount. Find out the name of the hotel manager and email him. I let him know how much I'm willing to pay and that I'm emailing 5 other 5 star hotels today and whoever gets back to me first with the best price gets my business. The manager has the authority to offer deep discounts. I also belong to the different hotels frequent hotel stay program and I include this information.

Many times when you get a discount rate the first time the manager will match that rate in the future during low season. Plus it's easier as a returning guest to get upgraded to the executive floor.

I travel on my own nickel and over the years this has been very successful.

Hi guys,

I have a question: I am not going to book my hotel through the direct Marriott website because the rate is very high, so I am thinking to use for the first time other sites here in the forum mentioned like "res24", "precisionreservations","asiahotels", but I still have a doubt. Because I want to get the Marriott Rewards points, if I use one of the above sites, what am I going to pay? I do not want to pay in advance to one of these sites anything, I just want to pay the full rate directly to the Marriott and so get the points. Why thease sites ask me the credit card number? What do they charge to me? Does their booking have a cost? Many thanks guys!

PT,

Most of the websites charge your credit card for your booking when you make the booking. You will know what the charge will be before you confirm it and finalise it to your CC.

Some of these sites will not credit you with points for your hotel card, some will. In general the lower the rate, the less likely you are to get points. Also remember how little value your points have, eg better to get a rate 2000 baht below, and no points, than to get points and spend a lot more than the points are worth.

Cheapest way to get into the Marriott in Bangkok is Priceline. Bid about 65USD for it. (less will be more likely to get you into the Westin)

Enjoy

hey pussy,

the rooms you get fromwholesalers still get you all the amenities. I stayed at Sofitel through direct rooms last year at the time they had a deal of 2300 baht a night stay 2 get 3rd night free. When I checked in I gave them my accor memebership and they upgraded me to a member room my TG was very impressed. I think that you get points no matter what hotel booking site you use. I will plug http://www.Directrooms.com they have been very good to me. I had to cancel a nonrefundable reservation 24hours before arrival. They gave me full credit and applied it towards rooms 6 motnhs later when I finally made the trip.

I have gotten upgrades and been given points at sheraton and weston when using priceline. I think the priceline policy may very by hotel chain.

BTW I understand that the soffitel is very girl UNfreindly. When I checked in I had my BG in tow and they put her on the guest register with me. Didn't give me any problems. But check the thread on this board for GF or UGF if that is important to U. BTW UTFSE.

If you get a Marroitt through Priceline you still get your Marriott rewards points, but of course you are not guaranteed a particular hotel.

Gus,
I have stayed at the JW Marriott in Bangkok and Hong Kong as well as other Marriotts around the world all booked through Priceline and have never received points. They will give me points for any extras (bars, restaurants etc) but not for the room booking. How did you get them to give them to you?
