1st time posting. Looking to make 1st visit to LOS.

Can anyone give advise on their experiences at this hotel. It's one thing to read the travel mags, websites etc... but prefer actual data.

tku in advance.

No, not Bar girl friendly at all.

Great hotel, very "Thai" feel. Not like booking into a "chain" that could be anywhere.

Thai restaurant has a good name with foreign visitors. I find it "faranged" a little now. Not spicy enough.

Excellent service. Great rooms.

Great if the company are paying!

wrong!

this is probably the most gf 5* star place in town! very stylish and very girlfriendly! or put this way, they are so posh that they simply not see and ignore with what you walk in besides you!
this hotel is also quite popular with some gay guys (they always prefer stylish environments) and their new loves from patpong.
best value for money are the garden suites, which are huge, 2 bathrooms, one as big as a normal hotel room. usually to be had at around usd 175++ per night. not cheap but well worth the money!
the beauty about the sukhothai hotel is that they also do have a side enterance where you can smoothly slide in the girls past the reception. this way avoiding the walk of shame for you!

sorry griffin, I tried the direct route!
Boy, did the doorman look down on her! She was quite nice as well!
I should have slid her in the side!

I will remember next time!

Thank you everyone for your comments. I truely appreciate everything you have said.

Of course it is impossible to come right now due to the AIDS summit, but I hope to make it there soon.

I have been leaning towards staying at this hotel vs the Oriental, Shangri-La, Dusit Thani and Peninsula.

What I have determined was that the Oriental seemed to come across as a little stuffy.

The Shangri-La & Peninsula was actually reasonable to my taste, but it's distance from the immediate shopping/action areas a slight detriment. Yes, I know that the Shangri-La has the BTS right on it's door steps.

The Dusit Thani is a little strange. Once a proud hotel and without doubt still is. But I find it strange that their pricing is lower then some lesser hotels. I know that pricing is not everything, but I find that when a hotel is pricing this agressively? hmm maybe it has aged a little too much and not kept up with the times. Note: Look how old the Oriental is and deservedly one of the top 5 hotels in the world.

The Sukhothai hotel, was one of those that I came across by accident. Actually they are not listed on many of the travel Hotel listings. The way I found out information on this hotel was via Bangkok tonight cocktail search...best martini in town....

Anyway, thanks a lot, appreciate your comments/
