Yes - I know. there are so many opinions on the board about hotel issues and I have read a lot of them but are now even more confused. So how come I ask you guys for some help on this one? Having spent lots of time in BKK for more than 25 years I should know my way around - and yes I do to a certain extent but have certainly not been everywhere and for hotel I have stayed for 25 years at Montien Bangkok and liked it. Close to PP and the staff has always been kind and rooms ok. However on last stay they behaved badly by changing agreed terms and even tricked billing! Had to stand at the reception for an hour to get it right. Even wrote to the manager after coming back home and the pinhead didnīt even respond! sh_t action like that makes me walk out! And they charge you dearly for taking a "guest" to the room. Not interested in that any more.

So now it is moving time and I just canīt decide! Money is not really the issue but why pay too much if not necessary - so a standard similar at least to Montien or higher is desired and wanted. I have read about the GF hotels and that is what I want. No hassle or debates - just to go to the room with the company.

Good/high standard + GF. Those are 2 points. 3rd is where? I want to be where the action is and am thinking about Sukkumvit area. But what hotel is the best option there then?

I never really had any reason to consider these things before since I had "my" place to stay.

So some tips from you boys out there is much appreciated. And even if this topic is handled many times before I am sure updated info is read not only by me!

And of course finally: stay away from Montien! At least until they have changed management!

You might check out the Manhatten on Soi 15. Under $30 a night with a free breakfast. Right Behind Theamae.
Note the construction and get as room on the opposite side of the building.

As derman suggests, you could check out Manhattan. I stay there every month or so. For the price it is good, great service, friendly staff, and gf.

I travel around in LOS, and only need a bed, not a fancy hotel. When I am out of BKk, I always hold the room open as a luggage store.

If you want a better hotel, look at Novotel lotus on Suk soi 33, or Landmark on SUK. There are threads on both hotels. Both are OK for location and gf

For similar money to the Montien, maybe a little more (I take it you were payng approx 2,500 a night) you can get the Westin or Marriot via priceline - Both are great hotels, and both are very gf.

Centrer Point Petchaburi 15 - GF, and 1,850 Baht per night regular, or 1,600 per night if you are me.

Never had any complaints - on the contrary.

Kev - thanks a lot. You helped me decide. I have already by help from this forum and some other web-searches decided that it would be either of the 2 you mention and I think I will go for Westin. I am sure itīs really good and the location near Cowboy seems to cover my needs! Now all I have to do is trying to get a decent price. Searched Precision Reservations and a "funny" thing happened: The list said 118 usd - tried to book and up came 155 usd!! Ok, itīs not that bad but I think it is possible to get it for less!

Joffe - I suggest Priceline.com - take a look at this excellent site to find out what prices people are paying:
