Anyone stayed in this hotel recently? I'm wondering if there is a joiner fee, how much is it and could I get it waived seeing as it's low season! More Baht for R and R!!

In May the Thara Patong had a joiner fee of 1000 Baht which they easilly waived. However, security gives the girls a hard time when picking up their id's in the morning. After hearing from my girl that this had happened, I went with her the second morning and they even gave me a hard time. Enough of a hard time that I checked out ten minutes later.
The prices have been going up and it is no longer a good value hotel. The low end rooms are seedy and the other rooms are too expensive.
The Salathai, which is right next door, is superior in every way and much cheaper. It has in room safe, pool etc. There is also the Impiana Phuket Cabana, also close by and right on the beach.

This is a nice hotel with one of the best pools in Phuket, in my opinion. However, it is not gf unless you checked-in with her.

Forgot to mention that they waived the joiner fee by e-mail before I went as well as giving me a better rate. I think it was 30% off their website rates. I went in April, not May as previously stated. Too much partying to remember when I was where.
CG is right, they do have a nice pool. You can get a room that has direct private access to the pool.
Don't get me wrong, the place is good and my other two previous stays were great. It was only the security people I had a problem with. If I am paying those prices, my guests (same girl for the week) and I don't need to be treated like crap. The front desk people appologized profusely. Those security guys could be gone now. Still, I am glad I moved. I enjoyed the Salathai better.
Hell, you can always move if you don't like it.

Thanks guys! I'll try it out and will get the joiner waived when I'm checking in! Stayed in the Royal Palm in Patong last January. 500 Baht joiner per night, ok hotel but just wanted to try somewhere different this time. I appreciate the advice and comments, thanks.
