Hi everybody...

Do you have any information about the Golden Palace Hotel on sukhumvit soi 1 ?
Is it guest friendly ? Far to NEP ? Have bathtube ?
I'm looking for a cheap and discret hotel on this area...Guest (girls/boys/LB) friendly...
Thanks for your advices...

The Golden Palace is a very basic hotel, but it has a certain charm - it was the first hotel I stayed at on my first trip. Rooms have bath tubs (I assume that's what you meant), and are basic large bed, wardrobe - the pool-side ones have small balconies.

Try to score the A, B or C suites, which are *IN* the pool area, with the added benefit that you live on the pool, and can just about jump out any time to take a dip - great for midnight skinny dipping.

They have a coffee shop, food place (I guess you could call it a restaurant), which can provide room service. The staff is generally very friendly - be sure to tip the maids and bellboys.

No problems bringing guests to the room - in fact, every morning we had the constantly refreshed collection of BGs at the pool, sitting with their farangs. Inevitably, the farangs enjoying breakfasts, or swimming in the pool, and the girls looking terribly bored.

It's on Soi 1, so you just walk up the Soi, turn left, and you're at Nana within 5 minutes. Lots of neat stuff on the street on the way there. There's usually an open-air market on your left, right after you turn on Sukhumwit the first time.

There's also plenty of good food vendors on the street right out front (great noodle cart every morning), and if you turn left right out of the GP, there's a cornucopia of food stalls on the right hand side, about a block up the street.

Added bonus, Happy House is right outside, to the left.

I believe we paid around 550 Baht per night when I last lived there, though I hear in high season they can go as high as 750 Baht. Overall, decent value for the Baht, with a certain rustic charm that I will fondly remember.
