I am flying in to BKK this may 28, and I am not sure if i have a hotel. I thought everything was ok but I made a change to my check in/out dates and It looks like the hotel never got it. I try calling them long distance but nobody understands me and my english. What are my chances of just flying in and going to some hotel like the ambassador (this is the one i am talking about) or the majestic suites or novotel lotus and getting a room for 2 weeks on the spot? I know it is not high travel time, about 75% of peak travel in the summer. Thanks

When you clear customs walk out the door and turn right. There are a number of storefronts on the right where you can book a hotel room for the night. The prices are ok. Have the girl write the name of the hotel in Thai for the taxi driver The next day you can go to the local hotels and get a better price. Go up stairs and get a taxi its cheaper and quicker.

Peak travel to Thailand is from November through January. I think you'll do fine, although you might have to switch hotels at some point, it's not terribly likely. If you want send me an e-mail and I'll see if I can straighten out your hotel reservation when I get there. I leave in about 36 hours.
You can send a message to Bob at Majestic Suites, his e-mail is listed on their website, and he seems to have a very good command of English. FWIW most Thais do much better with written English than spoken on the phone.

My experience has been that the problem is gettinig the flighths out of Europe on short notice but that there is ample Hotel space.

ambassador good choice im sure you will have no prob with availability of room.make sure you get room in tower block.they are very neg on price,you should be able 2 get room 4 about 8500bht+tax per week.

Fresh meat spot on - hardly any Europeans about now, dont worry, just get a cab from the airport and then book in, - as he says, they are negotionable now, especially if you take a room by the week.

Check out Federal it's about one block from Ambassador on Soi 11 also. They are about 960Baht per night and weekly is cheaper. Small clean place with pool. No hassels on friends visiting.
