PORK SWORD
Hello Chaps,

I am visiting Bangkok for the first time in two months. I have searched this forum, and the Net, to try and find a good hotel. I have a few in mind but would like some views/information from you seasoned veterans.
Firstly, the mandatory things - I would like the rooms to have a balcony, clean, airconditioned, girl friendly and Cable TV with lots of english channels. Not mandatory, but desirable, is a good locality (close Nana or Cowboy, or in between) and a nice pool to laze around during the day.
So over to you chaps....any thoughts??

Should it have a AAA view? Where do you want to use the balcony for? Watching stars, smell up the fumes of Bangkok traffic, banging BGs late at night...

Hey Doc,

Yes a view would be highly desirable. Why? Well I guess I have a penchant of relaxing outdoors in my own privacy, despite the bangkok pollution.

Hey CG,
Sorry, I should have added the budget. I would like to get away for around 1500b p/n but willing to pay more if necessary. I would draw the line at about 2500b I would say.

well the balcony thing is hurting my selection. Most places dont have them unless you have an apartment. Some serviced apartments represent good value but still outta your range.

I would suggest that if you drop the pool, then the City Lodge (amari.com) on Sukhumvit Soi 19. They have balconies and you are walking to nana and cowboy. Kinda noisy there but clean, has restaurant etc. About 1000-1500 baht.

My first choice for you would be President Solitaire on Suk 11. Fantastic pool, decent gym and spa, some rooms have balcony. Always worth calling them for a weekly rate. 42 in plasma tvs too. Very very nice.

Really? There are rooms at the president solitaire with balconies? I have stayed there a number of times but never knew that...

The Amari across the street from the landmark has some nice balconies, but not sure of rates or girl friendliness.

PS,

Why don't you check out Admiral Suites ?

http://www.admiralsuites.com

Their website says "Each Admiral Suites serviced apartment boasts of a private balcony, an uncommon feature among serviced apartments in Bangkok".

You could get a Superior Studio for THB 2400. And I think (and hope) that you could negotiate on the published rates too.

Its on Soi 22, so Cowboy should be closeby (and Barons too ) and Nana will be 2 BTS stations away.

Hope this satisfies your requirement. Now, where's my beer ?

Cheers,
NewKid

Admiral Suites is very girl friendly, nice rooms with wooden floor, kitchen, two rooms Suites with 2 TV's, BUT 10-15 minutes walk to BTS (15 min. to SC and same to Baron).
Balcony confirmed.
If humidity and temperatures are not very high, no problem, but otherwise a little bit far.
Many (beer) bars in Soi 22 (5 minutes or less) and
Washington Square (Sazanka,...) very close.
